  • Publication number: 20220199589
Abstract: Pixelated-LED chips include substrate sidewalls with sidewall involutions and/or increased sidewall surface area regions to affect light extraction therefrom. A LED lighting device incorporates a superstrate that supports lumiphoric material and includes sidewalls with sidewall involutions and/or increased sidewall surface area regions. Methods for fabricating sidewall features may include etching (e.g., deep etching) of substrate or superstrate materials, such as by using an etch mask having edges with non-linear shapes to produce and/or enhance sidewall involutions when an etchant is supplied through the etch mask to selectively consume substrate or superstrate material.

  • Patent number: 11342313
Abstract: At least one array of LEDs (e.g., in a flip chip configuration) is supported by a substrate having a light extraction surface overlaid with at least one lumiphoric material. Light segregation elements registered with gaps between LEDs are configured to reduce interaction between emissions of different LEDs and/or lumiphoric material regions to reduce scattering and/or optical crosstalk, thereby preserving pixel-like resolution of the resulting emissions. Light segregation elements may be formed by mechanical sawing or etching to define grooves or recesses in a substrate, and filling the grooves or recesses with light-reflective or light-absorptive material. Light segregation elements external to a substrate may be defined by photolithographic patterning and etching of a sacrificial material, and/or by 3D printing.

  • Patent number: 11334384
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing scheduler queue assignment burst mode are disclosed. A scheduler queue assignment unit receives a dispatch packet with a plurality of operations from a decode unit in each clock cycle. The scheduler queue assignment unit determines if the number of operations in the dispatch packet for any class of operations is greater than a corresponding threshold for dispatching to the scheduler queues in a single cycle. If the number of operations for a given class is greater than the corresponding threshold, and if a burst mode counter is less than a burst mode window threshold, the scheduler queue assignment unit dispatches the extra number of operations for the given class in a single cycle. By operating in burst mode for a given operation class during a small number of cycles, processor throughput can be increased without starving the processor of other operation classes.

  • Publication number: 20220108574
Abstract: Disclosed is a system that uses a window as a microphone as a replacement for keyless entry to a vehicle. The system includes a window which acts as a microphone using a piezoelectric transducer that captures resonance on an outside surface of the vehicle window when pressure waves (e.g., voice commands or taps) impact it. To recognize this sound, a transducer controller amplifies vibrations from the window tap or spoken commands. The system may include a low-power mode that listens for input while the vehicle is off. In a second, high-power mode, the system may detect a tapping event, which may prompt a transition to a wake-up state. The system may associate a number and timing of taps with unique user keys, similar to key selections of numbers on a keypad. The system may also recognize verbal PIN code input using the piezoelectric transducer microphone.

  • Publication number: 20220032511
Abstract: In methods and apparatuses for producing auxetic foam from conventional foam, conventional foam is compressed into a mold before thermal, chemical or thermo-chemical treatment processes are performed. A segmented mold is accommodated in a compressing apparatus. After compressing the foam between the mold segments, the mold is fastened shut and removed from the compressing apparatus. The forces applied to any given volume of foam and the amounts by which the foam is compressed while being processed are controlled to impart desired mechanical properties to the produced foam. Poisson's ratio and density of discrete portions of finished foam shapes are reliably predicted and controlled to achieve uniform and non-uniform mechanical properties within a single continuous quantity of foam.

  • Publication number: 20220032197
Abstract: Generating and validating a subscription key based on subscription parameters associated with a jurisdiction file stored in a NVRAM, the subscription key having characters based on a subscription start date, a subscription term, a key generation date, and a cyclical redundancy check value. Parameters are extracted from the subscription key including the subscription start date, the subscription term, the key generation date, and the cyclical redundancy check value and are stored in a memory of the gaming machine. The key is checked by generating a local cyclical redundancy check value based on a MAC address of the gaming machine and one or more of the extracted parameters, and is validated when the local cyclical redundancy check value matches the cyclical redundancy check value extracted from the subscription key. The jurisdiction file may be updated during a RAM clear function during installation of the gaming machine.
