  • Publication number: 20200314227
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for blocking unwanted telephone calls utilizing a ring blocking device that works in conjunction with an external remote call blocking service. The call blocking service blocks unwanted calls by examining the caller ID information that is normally transmitted to a wireline telephone device during the silent interval between the first and second power ringing bursts of the call. The call blocking service compares the caller ID information to a blacklist of unwanted calling parties and ends the call if the incoming call's caller ID information matches an entry on the blacklist. The ring blocking device, which is typically located on the user premises, is configured to prevent the first power ringing burst from activating the telephone ringer, while also ensuring that the telephone reliably receives and displays the caller ID.

  • Publication number: 20200194990
Abstract: Traffic signals can become skewed due to car crashes, severe winds, vandalism, earthquakes and other man-made or natural phenomena. Severe skewing is termed a “conflict.” An advantageous position detection mechanism is configured to mount inside a traffic light signal head. If signal head movement is outside of predefined limits, an electrical signal is generated indicating a conflict, i.e. traffic signal skewing so severe that drivers and pedestrians are endangered. Normal operation of the intersection is terminated and automatic communications to an appropriate command and control facility are made. For example, a conflict may cause the traffic signal to generate a flashing red light until the traffic signal is repaired.

  • Publication number: 20200164722
Abstract: An air vent control system comprises a directional air flow component mounted on a first axis within a first housing, and a second housing defining an inner space in which the first housing is mounted. A first motor moves the directional air flow component to an angular position within the first housing, and a second motor pivots the first housing contained within the second housing. A front and rear opening allows air flow in a direction from the rear opening to the front opening. A controller sets the angular position of the directional air flow component on the first axis, and the angular position of the first housing on the second axis. The respective positions of the directional air flow component relative to the first housing and the first housing relative to the second housing selectively regulate the direction of airflow discharged.
