The lid includes front, top, back and opposite sidewall portions. An innerframe is within and upwardly extends from the outerframe, and the innerframe has front and opposite sidewall portions. Microencapsulated aroma surfaces on the pack move across roughened perforations on the pack upon opening of the pack to thereby release flavor by rupturing the microcapsules.

The carton blank has a defined periphery, and a generally flat promotional sheet overlies the carton blank within the outer periphery thereof. A portion of the promotional sheet is adhesively secured to the carton blank. In another embodiment a generally flat promotional sheet overlies the carton blank essentially within the outer periphery thereof. Both carton blank each with its associated promotional sheet may then be assembled and loaded with cigarette packs utilizing standard assembly machinery and standard procedures. Fold lines on the carton blank and the promotional sheet facilitate assembly of the carton blank into a carton shape with the promotional sheet inside the assembled carton.

Without a fold back panel, the blank for forming the cigarette mini-pack includes upper and lower angled edges that compliment one another. A cut separating serially arranged blanks simultaneously forms the lower angled edge of one blank and the top angled edge of the trailing blank.

Each smaller multi-pack retail unit has at least one open end exposing the packs therein. By way of example, the perforated score lines may be arranged for separating an assembled ten pack carton into five, two pack retail units.
