  • Patent number: 11460224
Abstract: Systems and methods for purging lubricant from a first compressor to a second compressor are provided. A control module receives a lubricant purge command, shuts the second compressor to an OFF-mode while the first compressor remains in the ON-mode, restricts working fluid from an outlet of the second compressor from flowing into the first compressor and allows compressed working fluid discharged from an outlet of the first compressor to flow into the inlet of the second compressor such that lubricant in the second compressor flows into the first compressor.

  • Patent number: 10738536
Abstract: A rock formation drill bit assembly with electrodes includes a drill bit including a hollow portion that extends along a longitudinal axis of the drill bit. The hollow portion extends from a first end to a second end opposing the first end. Cutters as positioned on the first end. The cutters are configured to cut the rock formation resulting in a rock core protruding from the rock formation into the hollow portion. The rock core includes a circumferential surface. Multiple electrodes are positioned within an inner circumferential surface of the hollow portion. The multiple electrodes are configured to apply electrical discharge across multiple locations on the circumferential surface of the rock core. The electrical discharge causes the rock core to fracture.

  • Patent number: 10704354
Abstract: A plug assembly used in a wellbore fracturing process includes an annular housing that is set in the wellbore, and a ball that lands and seats in the housing. The housing and ball form a pressure barrier in the wellbore that isolates one portion of the wellbore from an adjacent portion. Pressurizing the portion of the wellbore isolated by the plug assembly generates fractures in a formation around that portion of the wellbore. The ball is not reactive with wellbore fluid or affected by wellbore conditions. Fluid communication across the plug assembly is reestablished by fracturing or milling the ball within the housing. Wellbore operations are conducted by inserting downhole tools through a bore axially formed in the housing.

  • Patent number: 10634424
Abstract: A refrigeration system includes first and second compressors and an oil separator. The oil separator includes an inlet for receiving refrigerant and oil from the first compressor, a refrigerant outlet, and an oil outlet. The oil separator separates the oil from the refrigerant. A portion of the oil separator below a horizontal plane intersecting the refrigerant outlet collects separated oil and has a volume equal to a first compressor oil supply. The first compressor oil supply is greater than or equal to 100% and less than or equal to 250% of a first compressor initial oil charge. The first compressor receives oil from the oil outlet when an amount of oil in the portion is less than or equal to the first compressor oil supply. The second compressor receives oil from the refrigerant outlet when the amount of oil in the portion is greater than the first compressor oil supply.

  • Publication number: 20170175446
Abstract: A force stacking assembly for use with an earth boring system that includes a series of actuators that each generate a force, and that are arranged to create a combined force that is cumulative of all of the actuators. The actuators include members that react in response to an applied stimulus, such as from an electrical current or magnetic field. The members are arranged in series in a hollow housing, planar bulkheads are transversely mounted in the housing. Each of the members have an end axially abutting a corresponding bulkhead. Ends of each member distal from it corresponding bulkhead couple to a ram member, that in turn couples to a drill bit. Energizing the members causes each to exert a force against the ram member, which is transferred to the bit.
