  • Patent number: 10738536
Abstract: A rock formation drill bit assembly with electrodes includes a drill bit including a hollow portion that extends along a longitudinal axis of the drill bit. The hollow portion extends from a first end to a second end opposing the first end. Cutters as positioned on the first end. The cutters are configured to cut the rock formation resulting in a rock core protruding from the rock formation into the hollow portion. The rock core includes a circumferential surface. Multiple electrodes are positioned within an inner circumferential surface of the hollow portion. The multiple electrodes are configured to apply electrical discharge across multiple locations on the circumferential surface of the rock core. The electrical discharge causes the rock core to fracture.

  • Patent number: 10634424
Abstract: A refrigeration system includes first and second compressors and an oil separator. The oil separator includes an inlet for receiving refrigerant and oil from the first compressor, a refrigerant outlet, and an oil outlet. The oil separator separates the oil from the refrigerant. A portion of the oil separator below a horizontal plane intersecting the refrigerant outlet collects separated oil and has a volume equal to a first compressor oil supply. The first compressor oil supply is greater than or equal to 100% and less than or equal to 250% of a first compressor initial oil charge. The first compressor receives oil from the oil outlet when an amount of oil in the portion is less than or equal to the first compressor oil supply. The second compressor receives oil from the refrigerant outlet when the amount of oil in the portion is greater than the first compressor oil supply.

  • Publication number: 20170175446
Abstract: A force stacking assembly for use with an earth boring system that includes a series of actuators that each generate a force, and that are arranged to create a combined force that is cumulative of all of the actuators. The actuators include members that react in response to an applied stimulus, such as from an electrical current or magnetic field. The members are arranged in series in a hollow housing, planar bulkheads are transversely mounted in the housing. Each of the members have an end axially abutting a corresponding bulkhead. Ends of each member distal from it corresponding bulkhead couple to a ram member, that in turn couples to a drill bit. Energizing the members causes each to exert a force against the ram member, which is transferred to the bit.

  • Publication number: 20140284823
Abstract: An aerator may be inserted into the neck of a wine bottle to aerate the wine as it is poured from the bottle. A cavity created in the distal end of the bottle as the wine is dispensed is vented to aid in high flow rate. The aerator seals against the inside surface of a typical wine bottle, and regulates pressures to create high flow and a high degree of aeration throughout the full dispense cycle of wine from the bottle.

  • Patent number: 8793910
Abstract: A frame for a sign. The frame comprises a plurality of struts and corner brackets. The struts have an exposed front surface including a gripping means. Each corner bracket slidably engages with two of the struts at an angle. The corner brackets also have an exposed front surface including a gripping means. The gripping means of the struts is substantially continuous with the gripping means of the corner brackets so that when the corner brackets and struts are engaged to form a polygon, the polygon includes a substantially continuous gripping means that is engageable with a sign to mount the sign on the frame.

  • Patent number: 8298521
Abstract: The present invention relates to altering the physical and/or chemical properties of at least part of at least one tissue in the eye. In a specific embodiment, it relates to the treatment of any eye disorder, although in particular embodiments the individual has a thickened Bruch's membrane. An activating energy source is utilized to effect a controlled diffusion enhancement and/or degradation of Bruch's membrane that enables improved diffusional transport between the choroid and retina. The individual is administered an inactivated diffusion-enhancing molecule that becomes associated with the membrane, which is then precisely exposed to an activating energy source, such as light or ultrasound.

  • Publication number: 20120129244
Abstract: Described herein are systems, methods and apparatuses, for dewatering, flocculating and harvesting microorganisms. In various implementations, at least one intracellular product from the microorganisms is recovered and processed according to methods disclosed herein. In some implementations, an electromagnetic field is applied to an aqueous suspension of microorganisms thereby causing flocculation of the microorganisms. In various implementations, the microorganisms are harvested, such as by causing the microorganisms to flocculate and sink to the bottom of a container. Alternatively, the microorganisms are caused to flocculate and float to the surface of the aqueous medium where they can be recovered by skimming. In other implementations, the microorganisms are lysed as they are passed through a second electromagnetic field to release intracellular products, among other desired components of the microorganisms.
