Patent number: 8613480Abstract: A child restraint system for use in a vehicle having improved vehicle seat belt anchoring mechanisms and an improved reclining mechanism. The vehicle seat belt anchoring mechanisms include a lap belt anchoring rod that is pivotable to facilitate the routing of the lap belt independent of the shoulder belt of the vehicle restraint system. The shoulder belt anchor member is located higher on the seat, and includes an anchor member received in a channel in the seat back. The recline mechanism of the child restraint system includes a recline plate that is connected to the rigid latch members. Reclining of the seat body results in movement of the rigid latch members to allow room between the seat body and the vehicle seat, thereby allowing adjustment of the recline angle of the seat without necessitating removal of the seat from the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2011Date of Patent: December 24, 2013Assignee: FirstSEAT, LLCInventors: Corey A. Campbell, David E. Campbell, Troy Daniel Mason, Matthew Scott Graham

Patent number: 8424964Abstract: A child safety seat includes a base, a seat body, a dampening member, and a non-planar impactor. The seat body is slidably secured to the base and is movable between a pre-collision position and a post-collision position. The dampening member is positioned between the base and the seat body. The non-planar impactor is secured to the seat body and is positioned to engage the dampening member. The non-planar impactor and the dampening member together provide a progressive dampening force against movement of the seat body from the pre-collision position to the post-collision position.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2012Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignee: Clek Inc.Inventors: Corey A. Publication number: 20130067600Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided for enabling selective file system access by applications. An application is installed in a computing device. An application manifest associated with the application is received. The application manifest indicates one or more file types that the application is allowed to access. The indicated file type(s) are registered in a location accessible by a broker service. The application is launched as an application process. The application process is isolated in an application container. The application container prevents direct access by the application process to file system data. An access request related to first data of the file system data is received at the broker service from the application process. Access by the application process to the first data is enabled when the broker service determines that a file type of the first data is included in the registered file type(s).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2011Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Scott Graham, Kavitha Radhakrishnan, Sermet Iskin, Katrina M. Patent number: 8226162Abstract: A child safety seat includes a headrest assembly that is vertically adjustable. The headrest assembly includes a release member accessible from the front of the seat and a shoulder belt support member that is secured to the release member and movable therewith. The child safety seat also includes a base and a seat body that is movable relative to the base. A force dampening system progressively absorbs forces acting upon the child safety seat as the seat body moves relative to the base. A latch release assembly is also provided to disengage clamp members from lower attachment hooks in a vehicle, the release assembly including a release lever accessible from the front of the car seat.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2009Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Inventors: Corey A. Patent number: 8201190Abstract: An I/O adapter sharing mechanism in a logically partitioned computer system allows sharing a network I/O adapter between logical partitions in an efficient manner. A first logical partition owns (or controls) the I/O adapter, and a second logical partition desires to use (or share) the I/O adapter. An I/O adapter device driver that includes a hardware interface is provided in the first logical partition. A virtual device driver is provided in the second logical partition that provides a set of functions that is at least partially defined by querying the I/O adapter device driver in the first logical partition. The I/O adapter sharing mechanism includes a transfer mechanism that allows data to be transferred directly from the virtual device driver in the second logical partition to the I/O adapter without passing through the I/O adapter device driver in the first logical partition.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2008Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Ronald Leroy Billau, Charles Scott Graham, Harvey Gene Kiel, Chetan Mehta, Lee Anton Sendelback, Jaya Srikrishnan

Patent number: 8131891Abstract: A hosting partition update mechanism allows updating I/O capability of a logically-partitioned computer system in a way that minimally affects the performance and availability of I/O in the computer system. When an update is needed, a new hosting partition is created with the desired update(s). I/O adapters in the current hosting partition are then migrated to the new hosting partition. The migration of an I/O adapter from the current hosting partition to the new hosting partition is relatively fast, thereby minimally impacting system performance and availability of I/O. Once all of the I/O adapters have been migrated to the new hosting partition, the current hosting partition may be kept as a backup, or may be eliminated. Providing a new or backup hosting partition allows updates to be performed in the new or backup hosting partition in a non-disruptive manner while the current hosting partition continues to service I/O requests.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2008Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David Charles Boutcher, Charles Scott Graham, Harvey Gene Kiel, Chetan Mehta, Jaya Srikrishnan

Patent number: 7676623Abstract: Methods and systems for discovering whether a given connection to an InfiniBand port is a standard InfiniBand connection or a non-standard connection (e.g., indicating the presence of a proprietary device) are provided. The discovery may be performed by an end node, such that the end node interoperates with all standard InfiniBand components. Specific actions that are vendor unique, and potentially not compliant with the InfiniBand architecture, may not be done until after the discovery is complete and it has been verified that the noncompliant action will only be directed to entities know to be capable of processing them. These actions may include assuming the configuration responsibilities that would have been performed by the Subnet Manager in a standard InfiniBand network.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2006Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Mark Edward Fisher, Charles Scott Graham, Kris Marie Kendall, Thomas Rembert Sand, Timothy Jerry Schimke
