  • Publication number: 20150141668
Abstract: A process for making a cyclic compounds such as cyclic acetal or cyclic ketones by feeding aldehyde or ketone compounds and polyhydroxyl compounds to a reaction vessel at a molar ratio of polyhydroxyl compounds to aldehyde or ketone compounds of at least 3:1, reacting these compounds in the presence of a homogeneous acid catalyst to generate a liquid phase homogeneous reaction mixture containing the acid catalyst without separating water from the reaction mixture as it is being formed in the reaction mixture, withdrawing the liquid phase homogeneous reaction mixture from the reaction vessel as a liquid product stream, and feeding the liquid reaction product stream to a distillation column to separate cyclic acetal compounds from unreacted polyhydroxyl compounds, and optionally recycling back the unreacted polyhydroxyl compounds and/or acid catalyst to the reaction vessel. The process produces cyclic acetal compounds in high yields. The process is also suitable to make cyclic ketals from ketone compounds.

  • Publication number: 20150121193
Abstract: User interface virtualization describes a technique for providing a user with access to a web application from a computing device, while translating the ergonomics of the web application's user interface style into the ergonomics of the computer device's. A proxy agent exchanges metadata and input events with a corresponding client running on a client device that accepts a “touch and swipe” style input. The proxy agent parses web content, such as markup documents and scripting code, that makes the presentation tier of the web application. The client constructs and displays native graphical user interface elements at the client device that are virtual representations of a corresponding user interface element of the web application.

  • Patent number: 9009219
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes establishing a session to a remote desktop determined for a user of a client device. The session allows the client device to remotely access the remote desktop to have one or more services performed for the user of the client device using resources of the remote desktop. The client device sends a request for a service in the one or more services to be performed on the remote desktop in the session and receives a result set determined from the service being performed by the remote desktop. A native viewer for the client device is determined based on a type of the result set. The native viewer is then invoked to display the result set.

  • Publication number: 20150092753
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described that provide for high precision synchronization between pairs of APs within a tracking area of a position location network. These tools and techniques may provide for incrementally synchronizing timers and oscillators located at respective APs. An AP may transmit a course frequency and timing acquisition signal that a second AP utilizes to estimate a frequency offset and/or time offset. The AP may transmit a subsequent fine frequency and timing acquisition signal which may be used to accurately adjust the estimated frequency offset and/or time offset of the second AP. The second AP may thus incrementally synchronize its oscillator(s) and/or timer(s). These techniques may be utilized over a multi-hop wireless network. The methods, systems, and devices may be applicable to single- and multi-floor location tracking systems.

  • Publication number: 20150091702
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for automatically changing the manner in which a tag unit communicates with one or more access points based on the tag unit's mobility state are described. A tag unit may transmit ultra-wideband (UWB) signals in a low update mode while in a stationary state. The tag unit may transmit UWB signals in a high update mode while in a mobile state. The tag unit, an access point, and/or a tracking management server may determine a tag unit's mobility state and adjust an update mode based on the mobility state.

  • Publication number: 20150058286
Abstract: Viewing and editing operations on a file having an unsupported file type are enabled through a method of opening the file through a remoting session. The method includes the steps of issuing a request to open the file and metadata of the file, programmatically transmitting credentials of the user to a connection server to log the user into a virtual machine, and establishing a remoting session with the virtual machine to access the file for viewing and editing, the virtual machine opening the file based on the request to open the file and the metadata of the file.

  • Publication number: 20150057076
Abstract: A casino gaming system includes gaming machines which are configured to accept and read tickets. The ticket may comprise cash-value tickets or non-cash value tickets. The tickets may also include secondary feature triggering indicia. A player may obtain a ticket from a system kiosk. The player may then present that ticket to a gaming machine, such as by inserting it into a media reader such as a bill acceptor. Associated monetary value or non-monetary credits may be credited to the machine. In addition, if the ticket includes a feature triggering indicia, when such an indicia is detected, the gaming machine preferably triggers or initiates the feature.
