  • Publication number: 20140309967
Abstract: The present invention relates to the method to identify the source of a signature signal by processing sparse digital data collected by a sensor system in a laboratory, field, or other application. The invention specifically addresses weak, obscured, or partially sampled signatures collected by a sensor system. The method takes advantage of all sources of data using an innovative method that uses Bayes Theorem for performing probability arithmetic and statistical inference. The method requires an exclusive and exhaustive library of candidate signatures. The method finds the most likely signature candidate from the library that has the highest likelihood of being responsible for the measured signal. In addition, the method can work with mixtures of library candidates to find the most likely mixture that explain the data. The method is applicable to a variety of sensor systems that collect and digitize data as signal strength (ordinate) versus measurement attribute (abscissa).

  • Patent number: 7770681
Abstract: A method of operating a machine having a lockable differential includes monitoring a first operating parameter indicative of wheel slip, and monitoring a second operating parameter different from the first parameter, the method further including controlling locking and unlocking of the differential responsive to the second operating parameter. A machine is provided having an electronic controller including software control logic for controlling locking and unlocking of a differential, the electronic controller being configured to lock the differential where the machine is in an operating mode where wheel slip is likely, such as a digging/dozing mode. Satisfaction of criteria for locking may be recognition by the controller of a predetermined pattern of sensor inputs corresponding with a likely wheel slip condition, or actual slip detection.

  • Publication number: 20090112367
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for efficiently dislodging and extracting at least a portion of solid materials from one or more reactor tubes of shell-and-tube reactors without damage to at least a portion of the solid materials which would otherwise render the solid materials unsuitable for re-use. The apparatus has at least one rod, a rotator assembly for rotating the rod, and a transmission assembly for applying an axially-directed force to insert the rod into a corresponding reactor tube and dislodging solid materials therein. The rod is also in fluid communication with an aspirator for extraction of dislodged solid materials. When the apparatus has more than one rod, they are arranged in a configuration matching the pattern of the reactor tubes and each rod is in axial alignment with a corresponding reactor tube.

  • Patent number: 7127531
Abstract: A preferred embodiment of the invention enables I/O port POST codes to be accessed via a universal serial bus (“USB”) port of the computer system: BIOS writes an I/O port POST code to a USB port. A device coupled to the USB port reads the I/O port POST code and presents the code on a display.

  • Patent number: 6997521
Abstract: A vehicle includes at least one wheel, a parking brake associated with the at least one wheel and a service brake associated with the at least one wheel, and a braking control system. The braking control system interprets operator on/off commands to the parking brake. The service brakes are actuated instead of or in addition to the parking brake when a parking brake application is ordered and the vehicle speed falls outside a preferred vehicle speed range. If the vehicle is stopped and the parking brake is engaged, the parking brake is not disengaged responsive to an operator command until the service brake condition is within a preferred ready range.

  • Patent number: 6723499
Abstract: Methods are described for measuring the activity of dual substrate enzymes and for identifying compounds that inhibit such enzymes. The disclosed methods use a capture resin to bind to a first substrate of the dual substrate enzyme and a separation step to remove unreacted radiolabeled second substrate and the amount of radiolabeled first substrate is then measured by scintillation counting.

  • Patent number: 6631320
Abstract: An articulated work machine has a front frame and a rear frame connected for pivotal movement therebetween for steering the machine by an articulation joint. Each of the front and rear frames has two driven wheels, spaced laterally, each having a brake associated therewith. As the machine articulates during steering, one or more of the wheels may lose traction and slip. An electronic traction control system receives measured wheel speed signals and an articulation angle signal, calculates a desired wheel speed responsive to the wheel speed and articulation angle signals, and selectively applies the brakes until the measured wheel speed is equal to the desired wheel speed.
