  • Publication number: 20180173304
Abstract: A system controls a brightness of an augmented reality (AR) eye-mounted device. The system includes an eye-mounted display, a photodetector system, and a controller. The eye-mounted display includes a contact lens and a femtoprojector. The femtoprojector is contained in the contact lens and is configured to project an AR image to a user's retina. The AR image is overlaid on an external scene viewed by the user through the contact lens. The photodetector system detects a brightness level of the external scene. Based on the brightness level of the external scene, the controller adjusts a brightness level of the AR image projected to the user's retina. In some embodiments, the eye-mounted display receives image data defining the AR image and the controller adjusts a bit depth of the image data based on the brightness level of the AR image.

  • Patent number: 9949450
Abstract: A plurality of wireless transmitters tethered to a plurality of soil moisture probes, each of said probes having first and second elongate conductive materials encapsulated in a non-conductive substrate, coupled to a power source and configured to be placed in the soil to form a capacitor. An irrigation control box is equipped with a receiver and a processor coupled to a plurality of irrigation control valves, each irrigation control valve corresponding to an irrigation zone wherein at least one probe is placed. The processor converts signal data received from the plurality of transmitters into a soil moisture value and (i) opens a control valve corresponding to the zone to which the probe corresponds upon detecting that the soil moisture value in the zone has dropped below a threshold value and (ii) closes the control valve upon detecting that the soil moisture value has raised above a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20180100770
Abstract: A protective cover for an insertion probe of a medical instrument. The cover contains a flexible tubular body that compliments the probe geometry and a radially disposed flange that surrounds the proximal end of the body. A series of snap-on fasteners removably connect the cover to the instrument. A camming surface is located on the outer face of the flange which coacts with a cam follower that is movably mounted upon the instrument to flex the cover sufficiently to open the fastener and release the cover from the instrument and move the cover axially toward the distal end of the tip.

  • Patent number: 9909727
Abstract: A luminaire (12), such as an external light for an automobile or a wall sconce, includes at least first set of optical features (16B, 16F) and a second set of optical features (16A, 16C, 16E, 16G). The first set of optical features (16B, 16F) is configured for use with an LED bulb (10) emitting a first type of light emission pattern (20), such that the luminaire outputs a particular light emission pattern. The second set of optical features (16A, 16C, 16E, 16G) is configured for use with a bulb (10) emitting a second type of light emission pattern (24), such that the luminaire outputs a different type of light emission pattern. In this way, the same luminaire may output different light emission patterns depending on the emission pattern of the bulb. The luminaire's emission pattern may also be dependent on the color emitted by the bulb. Different bulbs may be used or different LEDs may be energized in a single bulb to generate the emission patterns.
