  • Publication number: 20020170146
Abstract: An awning sheet manual extension system includes a pull strap having a length and longitudinally spaced pockets. The strap includes two ends with one end being adapted for connection to a roll bar of an awning incorporating the pull strap. The system also includes a shaped pull rod having two end segments and at least one intermediate handle portion. At least one of the end segments of the rod is adapted for releasable connection with a free end of the strap. The pull strap is connected to the roll bar such that when the pull strap is pulled by the pull rod, the roll bar is causing to rotate thereby causing the awning sheet to unroll from the roll bar.

  • Publication number: 20020062851
Abstract: A retractable awning having one edge of an awning sheet secured to a support surface and an opposite edge secured to a roll bar wherein the roll bar is mounted for movement between a retracted position adjacent to the support surface and an extended position by a pair of support arms and a pair of rafter arms with the rafter arms including inner and outer arm segments that are pivotally connected together by an elbow joint that automatically locks the arms in longitudinal alignment when the awning is fully extended.

  • Patent number: 6341638
Abstract: A retractable awning adapted to be moved between extended and retracted positions includes a pair of support arms and a pair of rafter arms each of which can be extended or retracted with the awning. A motor rotates a drive shaft and a roll bar to which an awning sheet is connected so that energization of the motor causes the awning to be wrapped around the roll bar when the awning is being retracted or unwrapped from the roll bar when the awning is being extended. A belt system is disposed in each support arm which causes the support arm to extend or retract depending upon the direction of rotation of the motor so that the arms are extended simultaneously with the unwrapping of the awning sheet from the roll bar or retracted simultaneously with wrapping of the awning sheet around the roll bar. A rigid or alternatively resilient brace extends between each support arm and an associated rafter arm for holding the rafter arms in an extended position as the awning reaches a fully extended position.

  • Patent number: 5823601
Abstract: A bed rail cover for mounting to and protecting a vehicle bed rail. The bed rail cover is comprised of an integrally formed elongated rail cover having a top wall and two opposing side walls that are shaped to substantially conform to the exterior of the bed rail, and a fastening means for securing the rail cover to the bed rail about a stake hole pocket in the bed rail. In a preferred embodiment, a fastening clip having opposing wings is inserted through the rail cover and into a stake hole pocket, the wings being yieldably biased against the stake hole pocket to secure the rail cover in place. The fastening clip allows the rail cover to expand and contract in a longitudinal direction to prevent cracking and bulging of the rail cover.
