  • Patent number: 11169426
Abstract: A Liquid Crystal Waveguide (LCW) system can provide sub-aperture incoupling or outcoupling of light having an input wavelength and input beamsize defining an aperture characteristic of the system. A Liquid Crystal Waveguide (LCW) can include a generally planar LCW core to receive light via a light input zone for communication toward a light output zone. Sub-aperture interfacial light couplers can be planarly arranged in or parallel to the planar LCW core in the light input zone or the light output zone. Sub-aperture interfacial light couplers can include teeth, prisms, or facets, a photonic crystal metasurface, or a geometric-phased holograph (GPH)). Overall LCW thickness can be reduced, which can be helpful in space-limited applications or for reducing material costs.

  • Patent number: 11156572
Abstract: A processor-implemented method of controlling an HVAC system transforms a comfort map into a plurality of sequential constant-temperature segments that are used in generating a control temperature sequence that preserves occupant comfort while improving energy efficiency. The method balances user comfort, temperature trajectory execution complexity, operational HVAC trajectory realization, and energy efficiency. The system achieves this balance through utilization of comfort map metric data, analysis and control system execution. The system, comfort map metric data processing and analysis facilitates this balance by executing a control temperature sequence/temperature trajectories developed based on direct user comfort feedback data within the context of a comfort map and thermal equilibrium boundaries derived from the comfort map.

  • Publication number: 20210308376
Abstract: Methods, devices, and components are provided to reduce tissue resistive pressure during a subcutaneous drug delivery operation by increasing the size of the injection cavity by partially retracting the drug delivery member after inserting the drug delivery member to a subcutaneous position. The drug delivery devices described herein include a magnetic actuator operably coupled to a primary container assembly including a drug delivery member. Power can be selectively provided to the magnetic actuator by a controller to retract the drug delivery member a predetermined distance to relieve pressure in an injection cavity in a patient. A force sensor can provide the controller with a drug delivery member insertion force. The controller can then estimate a tissue resistive pressure based on the drug delivery member insertion force and determine the predetermined distance for the drug delivery member retraction based on the tissue resistive pressure.

  • Publication number: 20210200094
Abstract: A microelectronic device is formed by dispensing discrete amounts of a mixture of photoresist resin and solvents from droplet-on-demand sites onto a wafer to form a first photoresist sublayer, while the wafer is at a first temperature which allows the photoresist resin to attain less than 10 percent thickness non-uniformity. The wafer moves under the droplet-on-demand sites in a first direction to form the first photoresist sublayer. A portion of the solvents in the first photoresist sublayer is removed. A second photoresist sublayer is formed on the first photoresist sublayer using the droplet-on-demand sites while the wafer is at a second temperature to attain less than 10 percent thickness non-uniformity in the combined first and second photoresist sublayers. The wafer moves under the droplet-on-demand sites in a second direction for the second photoresist sublayer, opposite from the first direction.
