The target data storage environment may be configured to automatically recover and restore data at the target data storage environment based on determining a failover event at the source data storage environment. The data management system may receive, from the user, a backup configuration configuring a schedule for backing up the data from the source data storage environment to the target data storage environment. The data management system may then perform a backup of the data in accordance with the backup configuration.
