  • Publication number: 20080051909
Abstract: An implant system and apparatus configured to permit motion of the wrist in at least one physiological direction, as well as in a dart thrower's motion, and constrain motion of the wrist in at least one non-physiological direction are provided. The implant according to one embodiment includes a distal component and proximal component. Each of the distal and proximal components includes a primary articulating portion and a secondary articulating portion. Primary and secondary articulating portions include at least one component having either a substantially convex or a substantially concave shape. The secondary articulating portion is configured to be radially and volarly disposed in relation to the primary articulating portion.

  • Patent number: 7101402
Abstract: A conduit is provided to provide a bypass around a blockage in the coronary artery. The conduit is adapted to be positioned in the myocardium or heart wall to provide a passage for blood to flow between a chamber of the heart such as the left ventricle and the coronary artery, distal to the blockage. The stent is self-expanding or uses a balloon to expand the stent in the heart wall. Various attachment means are provided to anchor the stent and prevent its migration.

  • Publication number: 20060184088
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to methods and apparatus for use in endovascular and intraoperative procedures providing arterial blood-flow for perfusion of ischemic myocardium. Aspects of the present invention provide a conduit between a non-coronary sinus of the aorta and a coronary vein. The conduit traverses a portion of the right atrium and the coronary sinus, and is located entirely within the heart and aorta. Arterial blood flows from the aorta through the conduit and into the coronary venous circulation towards the ischemic region of the heart. All procedures described herein may be performed endovascularly, and further may be performed while the patient's heart is beating.

  • Publication number: 20060111660
Abstract: Disclosed is a conduit that provides a bypass around a stenosis or occlusion in a coronary artery. The conduit is adapted to be positioned in the myocardium to provide a passage for blood to flow from a heart chamber to a coronary artery, at a site distal to the blockage or stenosis in the coronary artery. The conduit has a one-way valve positioned therein to prevent the backflow of blood from the coronary artery into the heart chamber.

  • Publication number: 20060030882
Abstract: A mitral valve staple device treats mitral regurgitation of a heart. The device includes first and second leg portions, each leg portion terminating in a tissue piercing end, and a connection portion extending between the first and second leg portions. The connection portion has an initial stressed and distorted configuration to separate the first and second leg portion by a first distance when the tissue piercing ends pierce the mitral valve annulus and a final unstressed and undistorted configuration after the tissue piercing ends pierce the mitral valve annulus to separate the first and second leg portions by a second distance which is shorter than the first distance. The device is deployed within the heart transvenously through a catheter positioned in the coronary sinus adjacent the mitral valve annulus. A tool forces the mitral valve staple device through the wall of the catheter for deployment in the heart.

  • Patent number: 6887335
Abstract: Apparatus and a method are provided for guiding the seam allowance of a seamed joint of a fabric into alignment longitudinally with a seam sealing tape applied to the seamed joint within a consolidation nip, all to effect a leakproof seal of the joint. The apparatus includes guide means positioned proximate the consolidation nip, adjacent the entrance thereof, the guide means having an opening therein to and through which the seam allowance is passed. The opening is of a size sufficient to accept and guide the seam allowance passing therethrough. The opening is preferably a slot, the open end of the slot being positioned adjacent the seamed joint and aligned with the tape as the tape and joint pass to and through the consolidation nip. The guide means optionally includes co-acting shock absorbers.

  • Publication number: 20050033220
Abstract: Disclosed is a conduit that provides a bypass around an occlusion or stenosis in a coronary artery. The conduit is a tube adapted to be positioned in the heart wall to provide a passage for blood to flow between a heart chamber and a coronary artery, at a site distal to the occlusion or stenosis. The conduit has a section of blood vessel attached to its interior lumen which preferably includes at least one naturally occurring one-way valve positioned therein. The valve prevents the backflow of blood from the coronary artery into the heart chamber.

  • Publication number: 20040074010
Abstract: A process for treating cloth textiles after a dying cycle to make the cloth textile be resistant to both water and alcohol is described. In particular, after the dying cycle, the dye bath container having the dyed cloth material is mixed with acetic acid and a fluoroalkyl acrylate copolymer emulsion to exhaust the fluoroalkyl acrylate copolymer onto the fabric to make the cloth resistant to alcohol. The cloth is also treated after the dying cycle by mixing acetic acid and a fatty amide/wax/fluoroacylate copolymer blend in the water bath to exhaust the fatty amide/wax/fluoroacylate copolymer onto the fabric to make the cloth resistant to water. After each of these treatment steps, the fabric may optionally be tested for the effectiveness of that treatment step. The disposal of the fatty amide/wax/fluoroacylate copolymer and the fluoroalkyl acrylate copolymer emulsion are not as restricted by the EPA as to the type or method of disposal unlike conventional chemicals used in current treatment processes.

  • Patent number: 6131794
Abstract: A shaving or shearing blade utilized in dressing solder joint chip technologies without the use of heat or a copper block wicking process. In essence, any solder debris resulting from the solder shaving process as implemented by the shaving blade is removed through the intermediary of a vacuum arrangement located as an integral structure in the shaving blade so as to inhibit the potential formation of electrical shorts or causing solder damage in subsequent replacement chip joins or other assembly operations.
