  • Patent number: 8954864
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable media for integrating a contact list with a social network are disclosed. Some implementations can include displaying a user interface that permits a user to add a profile linked to a contact to one or more selected groups of the social network. The user interface can then be updated to display the groups of the social network to which the profile has been added.

  • Publication number: 20150007470
Abstract: A support component comprises a tab configured to be coupled to a bar (as comprises a part of an item to be suspended), the tab including a plurality of openings disposed therethrough and configured to receive an overhead support interface (such as a corresponding flexible link) to thereby provide overhead support to the bar. These openings can be laterally offset from one another to facilitate selecting a particular pitch orientation for the bar. The tab can have a non-circular hole disposed therethrough sized and configured to receive the bar. This hole can include a surface that is configured to key with respect to a corresponding bar surface to thereby prevent the bar from rotating.

  • Patent number: 8887422
Abstract: A physically-discrete sign component comprises an internally-electrically-illuminated alphabetic character having a front-facing profile and at least one connecting bar disposed at least substantially horizontally with respect to the front-facing profile of the alphabetic character and at least partially within the front-facing profile of that alphabetic character. By one approach the physically-discrete sign component includes two of the connecting bars. If desired, these two connecting bars are disposed at least substantially parallel to one another. By one approach, a first one of the connecting bars extends partially, but not wholly, above an upper periphery of the aforementioned front-facing profile while the second connecting bar extends partially, but not wholly, below a lower periphery of the front-facing profile. The connecting bars can include a connecting-bar interface configured to physically and electrically interconnect to an adjacent sign component.

  • Publication number: 20130270760
Abstract: A device for laterally positioning a work piece in a milling machine vise includes a clamp configured to engage a top longitudinal lip of a vise jaw via at least one clamp screw. The clamp defines a notch configured to receive a work piece facing inner lip edge and an outer lip edge. The notch comprises a top lip resting face, an outer lip clamping face and an inner lip clamping face adjacent the inner lip edge. The device may also include a stop pin. A protrusion extends from the inner lip clamping face to receive the stop pin parallel to the work piece facing inner lip edge. The protrusion is configured to cantilever the stop pin substantially to below the top lip resting face from the inner lip edge of the vise jaw and enable a milling clearance from the clamp to the work piece via the stop pin.

  • Patent number: 8537023
Abstract: An automatic fault detector momentarily interrupts a provision of operating power to a load having a minimal forward-bias voltage requirement to thereby provide a testing window and then applies a test voltage during this window that is less than the minimal forward-bias voltage requirement to the load and monitors for a power-to-ground fault. By one approach the aforementioned momentarily interruption of power is neither frequent enough nor long enough in duration to substantially impair the provision of power to the load. Accordingly, load performance is not noticeably diminished. One can then responsively prohibit subsequent provision of the operating power to the load. One can then continue to monitor for the power-to-ground fault while continuing to prohibit provision of operating power to the load. If and when the fault disappears, these teachings will then accommodate automatically resuming an ordinary provision of power to the load.

  • Patent number: 8266810
Abstract: A system and method for quick and accurate tramming are disclosed. The system includes an apparatus comprising a plurality of indicators spaced apart in a plane perpendicular to a body shank and connected thereto, the body shank configured to be received into the spindle. The system also includes a calibration device configured to temporarily remain fixed in place on the mill table to provide a single point of calibration for each indicator received in the apparatus. The method includes calibrating the indicators one at a time by positioning an indicator shank tip atop the calibration device and adjusting the indicator to read a calibration value common to all the indicators. The spindle is moved toward the mill table until at least one indicator tip touches the mill table and the mill head is adjusted until all indicator tips touch the mill table and all indicators read the same value.

  • Publication number: 20120210214
Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating the navigation of a list of content items with gestures are described. Consistent with some embodiments, a computing device detects simple gestures, and in response, display a preview of content items preceding, or following a currently selected content item, from the list of content items. Upon detecting a selection gesture, the computing device updates the view of the currently selected content item to display the newly selected content item.

  • Publication number: 20110167844
Abstract: In general terms, this disclosure is directed towards a vapor recovery system. The vapor recovery system comprises material specifically designed to recondense vapor during defrost cycle. This material would be of sufficient thermal mass to remain at a lower temperature during the defrost cycle. The vapor may be condensed directly in the evaporator compartment or indirectly by removing the vapor to a remotely located recondense medium. The vapor recovery system may comprise of at least one vapor tube, a fan, and a vapor recondenser. The vapor collection tube is located proximate an evaporator. The fan is in fluid communication with the vapor collection tube and the vapor recondenser.

Abstract: A compressed air energy storage (CAES) system encompassing direct heating. The compressed air energy storage system includes a compressor for compressing ambient air, an air storage reservoir, and a thermal energy storage system. The air storage reservoir is adapted to store compressed air from the compressor. The thermal energy storage system is adapted to supply heat to the compressed air energy storage system such that the compressed air is heated to increase work production of the compressed air. The thermal energy storage system is heated using off-peak electricity.

  • Patent number: 7674040
Abstract: A reclosable bag having two spaced-apart flexible closures and external finger guide ridges and/or pressure distribution ridges to facilitate their closure. The ridges lie in a region between the double closures and they extend generally parallel to each other and to the closures when the bag is in an empty and flat state. The pressure distribution ridges improve the finger pressure distribution by moving the applied forces closer to the closure profiles. When used in conjunction with external finger guide ridges, the pressure distribution ridges also improve the bearing surface of the external finger guide ridges with the thumb and forefinger of the person closing the bag.
