  • Patent number: 9463423
Abstract: A device for aerating a liquid, such as wine, includes a cup portion with a cavity that receives an amount of liquid therein, the cavity extending between a proximal opening and a distal opening. A neck portion of the device defines an aeration section in fluid communication with the cavity. Passages in the aeration section extend laterally to an outer surface of the neck portion through which air is drawn into the aeration section. A central passage through the neck portion is in fluid communication with the aeration section and extends to a distal opening of the device. A diffuser element between the cavity and the aeration section has arms that are configured to contact the liquid as it flows from the cavity to inhibit a swirling flow of the liquid so that the liquid passes into the aeration section in a generally vertical and linear manner.

  • Publication number: 20160232924
Abstract: An estimate of a fractional chirp rate of a signal may be computed by using multiple frequency representations of the signal. A first frequency representation may be computed using a first fractional chirp rate and a first score may be computed using the first frequency representation that indicates a match between the first fractional chirp rate and a fractional chirp rate of the signal. A second frequency representation may be computed using a second fractional chirp rate and a second score may be computed using the second frequency representation that indicates a match between the second fractional chirp rate and the fractional chirp rate of the signal. The fractional chirp rate of the signal may be estimated using the first score and the second score, for example, by selecting a fractional chirp rate corresponding to a highest score.

  • Publication number: 20160232906
Abstract: Features that may be computed from a harmonic signal include a fractional chirp rate, a pitch, and amplitudes of the harmonics. A fractional chirp rate may be estimated, for example, by computing scores corresponding to different fractional chirp rates and selecting a highest score. A first pitch may be computed from a frequency representation that is computed using the estimated fractional chirp rate, for example, by using peak-to-peak distances in the frequency distribution. A second pitch may be computed using the first pitch, and a frequency representation of the signal, for example, by using correlations of portions of the frequency representation. Amplitudes of harmonics of the signal may be determined using the estimated fractional chirp rate and second pitch. Any of the estimated fractional chirp rate, second pitch, and harmonic amplitudes may be used for further processing, such as speech recognition, speaker verification, speaker identification, or signal reconstruction.

  • Patent number: 9352261
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to a method for utilizing a roomside replaceable fan filter unit having an integral aerosol injector ring. The method begins by replacing a used filter from the fan filter unit with a replacement filter from a roomside of the fan filter unit. Air is then pulled into a housing of the replaceable fan filter unit and out through the replacement filter to the roomside by a fan module. Finally, an aerosol challenge is provided at a location adjacent and upstream of the fan module.

  • Publication number: 20160129688
Abstract: A method of ejecting an ink droplet from an inkjet nozzle device having an actuator and a meniscus pinned across a nozzle opening. The method includes the steps of: delivering a sub-ejection pulse to the actuator for perturbing the meniscus from a quiescent state; and subsequently delivering an ejection pulse to the actuator at an instant when the meniscus is perturbed from its quiescent state, the ejection pulse ejecting the ink droplet from the nozzle opening. A time period between a trailing edge of the sub-ejection pulse and a leading edge of the ejection pulse controls a droplet volume of the ejected ink droplet.

  • Publication number: 20160099012
Abstract: An estimate of a pitch of a signal may be computed by using correlations of frequency portions of a frequency representation of the signal. An initial pitch estimate may be obtained and frequency portions of the frequency representation may be identified using multiples of the initial pitch estimate. Correlations of the frequency portions may be computed, and a score for the initial pitch estimate may be determined using the correlations. A second pitch estimate may be determined using the first score, and the process may be repeated.

  • Patent number: 9302320
Abstract: Various embodiments provide apparatus and methods for injection molding. In one embodiment, a constraining plunger may be configured in-line with an injection plunger to transfer a molten material from a melt zone and into a mold. The constraining and injection plungers are configured to constrain the molten material there-between while moving. The constrained molten material can be controlled to have an optimum surface area to volume ratio to provide minimized heat loss during the injection molding process. The system can be configured in a longitudinal direction (e.g., horizontally) for movement between the melt zone and mold along a longitudinal axis. A molded bulk amorphous object can be ejected from the mold.
