  • Publication number: 20140273042
Abstract: A portable medical monitor system generates a current calibration curve for generating the estimate of the level of an analyte, such as glucose, being monitored. The current calibration curve is based on at least two measured data values of the level being monitored. The system determines a transformation function based on the calibration curve and at least one preceding calibration curve such that the transformation function produces a predictive calibration curve, and generates an estimated level value of the level being monitored, based on sensor output from a sensor associated with the portable medical monitor system, in accordance with the predictive calibration curve.

  • Publication number: 20140276419
Abstract: A portable insulin pump can integrate and display data from a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to allow a user to more readily determine whether any interaction with the pump is necessary. Data from the CGM can automatically be transmitted to the pump and can be displayed for user analysis or automatically analyzed to present recommendations to the user based on combined data from the CGM and the pump.

  • Publication number: 20140276574
Abstract: A method of infusing liquid medicaments including insulin via an insulin pump, includes identifying an insulin delivery protocol associated with ingestion of carbohydrates wherein the insulin delivery protocol is likely to lead to a postprandial drop in blood glucose to a level below a basal level, then proposing at least one alternative insulin delivery protocol to inhibit the postprandial drop in blood glucose by delivering a metered amount of insulin that is appropriate to facilitate the metabolism of the carbohydrates without the postprandial blood glucose level drop. The invention further includes querying the patient as to whether to apply the alternative insulin delivery protocol, receiving instructions from the patient in response to the query, and applying the alternative insulin delivery protocol following receiving instructions from the patient to apply the alternative insulin delivery protocol.

  • Publication number: 20140276556
Abstract: A computer implemented method of determining a clinical variables utilizing an insulin pump that includes initiating blood glucose measurements, initiating ingestion of carbohydrates and receiving input data based on the blood glucose measurements and the ingestion of carbohydrates and utilizing the data to calculate clinical variables. The invention may include presenting instructions to a patient to take various actions and to input various data. The clinical variables determined may be stored in memory and then used to calculate insulin doses and to send a signal to an insulin pump to infuse the insulin dose calculated.

  • Publication number: 20140200396
Abstract: Described are methods and apparatus for use in supporting tissue in a patient's body. In some embodiments, the patient's breast or another tissue is supported. One method involves introducing a superior soft tissue anchor into a patient, the anchor having an inferiorly facing total surface area; and introducing at least one inferior soft tissue anchor into the patient, such that the at least one inferior soft tissue anchor is suspended from the superior soft tissue anchor, the sum of all of the at least one inferior soft tissue anchors having a superiorly facing total surface area. Abstract: A portable medical device includes an interface for accepting, a power supply and enabling data transfer while still connected to a human body. The interface may include a universal serial bus interface and may be coupled to a data isolation chip and a power isolation chip. A power controlling processor may determine how the supplied power, e.g., voltage, is supplied to other components within the infusion device.
