  • Publication number: 20190130031
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software described herein provide enhancements of managing summaries provided to end users. In one implementation, a summary service provides a user with identifier for a plurality of events, and obtains a selection from the user, wherein the selection identifies a first type of summary for an event in the plurality of events. The summary service further provides the user with a first summary of the first type for the event, identifies one or more suggested types of summaries for the event based at least in part on data points for the event, and provides the one or more suggested types of summaries to the user.

  • Patent number: 10240315
Abstract: A tieback alignment and access device has a hollow core and vertically aligned angled anchor subassemblies that provide attachment points for tieback anchors that pass laterally through the hollow core. The hollow core is configured to allow a cutting tool (e.g., a drill bit) to be inserted therein longitudinally and used to cut the tieback anchors at any time. When cast into a contiguous temporary support-of-excavation wall, the angled anchor subassemblies are set back from an outwardly facing surface of the wall resulting in a smooth surface.

  • Publication number: 20190032466
Abstract: There is described a method for automatically controlling a drilling operation. The method comprises obtaining a recording of one or more controlled drilling parameters adjusted, during a first drilling operation, in response to one or more controlling drilling parameters. The method further comprises, during a second drilling operation subsequent to the first drilling operation, monitoring the one or more controlling drilling parameters. The method further comprises, during the second drilling operation, automatically adjusting the one or more controlled drilling parameters in response to the monitored one or more controlling drilling parameters by using the recording of the one or more controlled drilling parameters. Thus, by recording a driller's instructions once (during a recording phase) and automatically replaying them during successive playback phases, drilling is made more efficient and simpler.

  • Publication number: 20180308744
Abstract: Amorphous multi-component metallic films can be used to improve the performance of electronic components such as resistors, diodes, and thin film transistors. Interfacial properties of AMMFs are superior to those of crystalline metal films, and therefore electric fields at the interface of an AMMF and an oxide film are more uniform. An AMMF resistor (AMNR) can be constructed as a three-layer structure including an amorphous metal, a tunneling insulator, and a crystalline metal layer. By modifying the order of the materials, the patterns of the electrodes, and the size and number of overlap areas, the I-V performance characteristics of the AMNR are adjusted. A non-coplanar AMNR has a five-layer structure that includes three metal layers separated by metal oxide tunneling insulator layers, wherein an amorphous metal thin film material is used to fabricate the middle electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20180054639
Abstract: Systems and methods for efficiently determining that a media asset scheduled to be stored from one content source has been rescheduled to another content source. For example, by examining the contents of data packets received with a media asset which identify the media asset currently being received (e.g., a field in an event information table), a media guidance application executed on a set-top box or other user equipment device may determine in real-time that the media asset scheduled to be stored is not currently being transmitted from the originally-scheduled content source. In response to determining the media asset is not available from the originally-scheduled content source, the media guidance application may search through packets received from other content sources to determine a content source the media asset has been rescheduled to and store the media asset from that content source.

  • Patent number: 9899846
Abstract: Embodiments of methods for discharging an entropic energy storage device (EESD) that stores and releases entropic energy are disclosed. Embodiments of circuits including the EESD also are disclosed. The method includes providing a circuit including an EESD charged to a first voltage level, the EESD including first and second electrodes with a dielectric film positioned there between, the dielectric film comprising an entropic material, and the first electrode charged positively or negatively with respect to the second electrode; and applying a reversed polarization electric potential to the first electrode of the EESD in a first mode of operation of the circuit for a discharge period of time, thereby supplying power from the EESD to a load. In some embodiments, the method includes a pulsed discharge of the EESD with alternating discharge and recovery periods of time.

  • Patent number: 9762945
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for recommending a display device for media consumption. The location and media content preference of the user is determined and used to recommend the location of a display device that is currently displaying content relevant to the user. For example, if a user walks into a restaurant and indicates that he wishes to watch one of the televisions, he is directed to a television at the far side of the room which is already playing the sports (e.g., basketball) game with his favorite team. This helps ensure that users are able to find and consume content that is meaningful to them in public spaces.

  • Patent number: 9732754
Abstract: A shunt pulsation trap for a positive-displacement gas-transfer machine having a gas transfer chamber with an intake port and a discharge port and having at least one positive-displacement drive device (such as two cooperating rotors) defining a compression region of the transfer chamber. The trap includes a pulsation-trap chamber arranged for parallel fluid flow with the machine transfer chamber. The trap has a first (e.g., inlet) port in communication with the compression region of the transfer chamber (e.g., at least one lobe span away or totally isolated from the transfer-chamber intake port), a second (e.g., discharge) port in communication with the discharge port of the transfer chamber, and at least one pulsation dampener in the pulsation-trap chamber. In this way, the shunt pulsation trap traps and attenuates gas pulsations before discharge from the machinery transfer chamber, thereby reducing induced NVH and improving machinery efficiency.
