Patent number: 10780911Abstract: A steering column includes a jacket tube with a clamping section with a slot extending longitudinally. A clamping collar has transversely opposed legs are interconnected via an arcuate section between which the clamping section of the jacket tube is at least partially accommodated. An actuating unit is arranged in the jacket tube, with a steering spindle rotatably mounted therein around the longitudinal axis. A clamp fixes the actuating unit longitudinally relative to the jacket tube and in a release position unclamps the clamping collar and frees the actuating unit longitudinally and presses the legs toward each other transversely to the longitudinal axis in the fixing position. Driver elements are arranged on the jacket tube in opposite edge regions of the slot, and the legs include contact elements which in the fixing position can be pressed against the outer sides of the driver elements.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2017Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignees: THYSSENKRUPP PRESTA AG, THYSSENKRUPP AGInventors: Sebastian Huber, Francisco Sinis Jáuregui

Patent number: 10759463Abstract: A clamping device may include clamping jaws that selectively clamp a steering column tube that is adjustable. A clamping pin may connect the clamping jaws. Rotation of the clamping pin in a closure direction causes the steering column tube to be clamped between the clamping jaws, and rotation of the clamping pin in an opening direction releases the clamping jaws for adjustment of the steering column tube. A damping member may be disposed on the clamping pin and connected to the clamping pin in a frictionally engaging or resilient manner. The damping member may comprise a stop tongue that protrudes radially from the clamping pin. When the clamping pin rotates in the opening direction, the stop tongue moves into abutment with the steering column tube and prevents rotation of the damping member so that the rotation of the clamping pin in the opening direction occurs counter to the friction force or resilient force and is damped.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2016Date of Patent: September 1, 2020Assignees: THYSSENKRUPP PRESTA AG, THYSSENKRUPP AGInventor: Sebastian Huber

Patent number: 10611395Abstract: A motor-adjustable steering column including a supporting unit which is connectable to a vehicle body and by which an actuating unit is held which includes a steering spindle mounted in a casing unit to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis. The casing unit has an outer casing tube, in which an inner casing tube is accommodated to be axially displaceable telescopically in the direction of the longitudinal axis. An actuating drive is connected to the inner casing tube and the outer casing tube by which the inner casing tube may be displaced axially in and out relative to the outer casing tube. A feature arranged between the outer casing tube and the inner casing tube generates a frictional force between outer casing tube and inner casing tube with regard to relative displacement which is adjustable between a release position and at least one friction position.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2017Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Assignees: THYSSENKRUPP PRESTA AG, THYSSENKRUPP AGInventor: Sebastian Huber

Patent number: 10611398Abstract: A steering column may include an adjustment unit with a steering spindle mounted rotatably about its longitudinal axis in a casing tube, a support unit in which the adjustment unit is mounted so as to be adjustable along the longitudinal axis, and a stop device with a movably mounted stop element positionable in a blocking position and a release position. In the blocking position the stop element limits the adjustment travel of the adjustment unit relative to the support unit. In the release position, the stop element allows adjustability in the direction of the longitudinal axis beyond the adjustment travel limited in the blocking position. The stop device has an actuation body that has an inert mass, is actively connected to the stop element, and is mounted movably relative to the support unit. In a crash event, the mass inertia of the actuation body causes it to interact with the stop element to move the stop element from the blocking position into the release position.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2016Date of Patent: April 7, 2020Assignees: THYSSENKRUPP PRESTA AG, THYSSENKRUPP AGInventors: Sebastian Huber, Christoph Munding, Sebastian Forte

Publication number: 20190367071Abstract: A motor-adjustable steering column for a vehicle includes a supporting unit attachable to a vehicle body and by which there is held an adjusting unit in which a steering spindle is mounted so as to be rotatable about a longitudinal axis. An adjustment drive is connected to the supporting unit and to the adjusting unit and is adjustable relative to the supporting unit. The adjustment drive includes a drive unit and a threaded spindle which engages in a spindle nut and which has a threaded spindle axis. The threaded spindle and the spindle nut can be driven to rotate relative to one another about the threaded spindle axis by the drive unit. Steering column with longitudinal stop having an adjustable release function in the event of a crash
Patent number: 10308275Abstract: A steering column may include a casing unit with a steering spindle that is rotatable about a longitudinal axis and a bracket unit that is fixable on the motor vehicle. The casing unit may be secured to the bracket unit such that the casing unit is adjustable in at least one direction. The casing unit may be fixable in different positions by a fixing mechanism. The fixing mechanism may have a fixing element that is rotatable about a pivot axis. The casing unit may be fixed in position in or on the bracket unit in a locked position of the fixing element, and adjusted relative to the bracket unit in a released position of the fixing element. A movably mounted stop body may interact with the fixing element and, in the released position of the fixing element, is disposed in a first position where it limits adjustability of the casing unit relative to the bracket unit. In the locked position of the fixing element, the stop body may be disposed in a second position where it disengages with the casing unit.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2015Date of Patent: June 4, 2019Assignees: THYSSENKRUPP PRESTA AG, THYSSENKRUPP AGInventors: Sebastian Huber, Mergim Murtezi -
