    Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device having a back light for irradiating a liquid crystal panel with light. An LED as a light emitting element is provided on a light guide panel provided in the back light, and a reflection member is provided on an optical sheet in the vicinity of an inclined plane of the light guide panel to reflect the light going out of the inclined plane toward the light guide panel. Furthermore, a convex portion of the light guide panel is formed between a plurality of light emitting elements, and an adhesive member is also provided between the convex portion and the optical sheet to ensure tight adhesion between the light guide panel and the optical sheet.

    Abstract: A planar illumination device is provided that can achieve even distributions of mixed colors and luminance, downsizing and weight saving without lowering the luminous efficiency of LED chips. In addition, a liquid crystal display device using the planar illumination device as a backlight is provided. A polygonal flat plate-like light guide plate GLB is combined with a plurality of LED chips D1, D2, D3 emitting light with different colors from each other to constitute a color mixing unit DUT. A plurality of the color mixing units are arranged on printed circuit boards RFB having a reflection function to constitute a planar illumination device. The planer illumination device is installed on the back of a liquid crystal display panel, thus constituting a liquid crystal display device.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a display device of high brightness which can eliminate brightness irregularities on a display surface while preventing the degradation of display quality attributed to an undesired electric field generated at the time of performing inverter driving of the cold cathode fluorescent lamps of a backlight. In a liquid crystal display device, a plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps of a backlight unit is arranged along a short axis of the display device. The cold cathode fluorescent lamp has a high-voltage electrode thereof connected to an inverter circuit and a ground electrode thereof connected to a ground. Further, the plurality of cold cathode fluorescent lamps arranged along the short axis have electrodes thereof arranged alternately between the high-voltage electrode and the ground electrode.

The first and second electrodes are disposed at two ends of the discharge tube in a direction of a longitudinal axis thereof, respectively. A length of a first wiring for coupling the power source to the first electrode is approximately equal to a length of a second wiring for coupling the power source to the second electrode.

Both of the first and second drain drivers groups are arranged at a same peripheral side of the liquid crystal display panel. The control unit supplies first and second signals to the drain drivers groups via flexible printed circuits which are connected to the control circuit board. The control circuit board is sandwiched between the metal frame and the shield member, and the metal frame is arranged between the control circuit board and the liquid crystal display panel.
