  • Patent number: 5890088
Abstract: A structure configuration map display system includes a controller for depicting and displaying a structure configuration map based on structure configuration map information. The system provides for searching and guidance relative to a structure designated as a target point. A display form corresponding to the structure information for the target point is determined and the display form of the target point is changed based on the results of that determination and is displayed so that a user can easily recognize the desired facility by its display form which corresponds to stored structure information. Also, the user can easily identify a facility as the desired facility and can obtain reliable guidance to that target point by the display form which indicates the type of the structure.

  • Patent number: 5884218
Abstract: Upon recognizing the shapes of buildings or facilities, the buildings or facilities can be identified and destinations can be designated simply and easily. The display of a house map and a road map is changed over depending upon predetermined conditions. This makes it easy to navigate to the destination. When the destination is shown on the house map, a guide route is identified on a road adjacent to the building at the destination. This makes it easy to see where in the vicinity of the destination the car arrives.

  • Patent number: 5644913
Abstract: A heating system for a catalytic converter of a multi-cyclinder, spark-ignition engine is provided. Half of the cylinders of the engine, for example, the cylinder #2 and the cylinder #3, are operated on a rich gas mixture with an excess air ratio of 0.6 or less to produce a combustible gas mixture comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and unburned fuel components, while the remaining half of the cylinders, for example, the cylinder #1 and the cylinder #4, are utilized as air blowers to which no fuel is fed. The flammable gas mixture produced from the combustible gas produced in the cylinder #2 and the cylinder #3 and the air supplied by the cylinder #1 and the cylinder #4 is burned in the combustor equipped with an ignition device which is installed upstream from the catalytic converter to provide heat energy to activate the catalyst. The system can rapidly heat and activate the catalyst without requiring a special fuel supply system and air blower.

  • Patent number: 5536987
Abstract: An alternating current generator for a motor vehicle includes magnet type field cores, i.e., field cores with claw poles on which permanent magnets are interposed in the spaces between the claw poles, where the generator has a ratio of number of claw poles/outside diameter of the field core that allows generation of a large output current. The alternating current generator includes permanent magnets disposed in spaces between peripherally adjacent claws which reduce the magnetic flux leakage caused by the field coil occurring in the spaces. When a residual magnetic flux density higher than 0.25 tesla is applied in advance in a direction that reduces magnetic flux, a large output current is obtained when the above-noted ratio is in the range of from about 1.6.times.10.sup.-1 to 2.0.times.10.sup.-1 (1/mm).

  • Patent number: 5057763
Abstract: A high power supply apparatus employs a high-power load such as a deicing means for deicing a windshield of the automobile. The high-power load is connected to a converter which connects the output voltage of the alternator to a predetermined voltage. During the operation of the high-power load, the alternator is disconnected from the battery through a switch, and at the same time, the rotating speed of the alternator is increased by the idle speed controller. Since the high-converter means converts the output voltage of the alternator when the rotating speed of the alternator is increased, a predetermined electric power of the alternator is supplied to the high-power load.

  • Patent number: 3941985
Abstract: In an automatic wire bonder, a rotatable work stage for a lead frame on which a plurality of leads are arranged and an electronic circuit element having a plurality of electrodes is mounted for rotation to align the circuit element in a predetermined direction. The angle of rotation is detected as an azimuthal error. A bonding tool is subsequently translated relative to the work stage to a position predetermined relative to the circuit element. The translation is detected as a positional error. Calculating means electrically calculates the relative positions of the leads using absolute positions of the leads and the azimuthal and positional errors. The bonding tool is driven responsive to the absolute positions of the electrodes and the relative positions of the leads to carry out the bonding process.
