  • Publication number: 20070052744
Abstract: A timing signal generator generates an ejection timing signal each time a printing paper travels a predetermined distance relative to a head, and a driving signal generator inputs a driving signal based on writing data to the head each time an ejection timing signal is generated. In the course of printing, when an interval between two continuous ejection timing signals is equal to or longer than twice a basic time period of input of driving signal which is fixed for a head, a non-ejection driving signal which is a driving signal indicating a non-ejecting operation is input to the head between two driving signals respectively associated the two continuous ejection timing signals. Accordingly, it is possible to reliably and properly perform ejection of ink based on writing data with a time period equal to or longer than the basic time period.

  • Publication number: 20060126741
Abstract: The present invention provides a technology that is implemented in a motion compensation image coding device or a coding method and intended to code motion picture data in real time by performing a decreased number of arithmetic operations so as to determine a motion vector. In motion compensation image coding, macroblocks and sub-blocks into which each of the macroblocks is divided are searched for a motion vector with integer pixel precision. Based on the results of the search, a shape of a block that should be searched for a motion vector with decimal pixel precision is determined as a shape mode. The block of the shape mode is searched for a motion vector with decimal pixel precision, whereby a motion vector needed to produce predictive image data is determined.

  • Publication number: 20060077226
Abstract: In a head unit of a printer, a head (5A) has outlet rows (611, 612, 621 and 622) arranged along a first tilt direction and a gap between outlets in the outlet rows (611 and 612) is interpolated with a outlet in the outlet rows (621 and 622) by a slight tilt. A head (5C) adjacent to the head (5A) is tilted in a second tilt direction opposite to the first tilt direction. In the printer, a plurality of dots are formed, being aligned on a piece of printing paper in the first tilt direction by performing an ejection control simultaneously for all outlets in each outlet row of the head (5A) and subsequently a plurality of dots are formed, being aligned on the piece of printing paper in the second tilt direction by performing an ejection control simultaneously for all the outlets in each outlet row of the head (5C), to make both rows of dots continuous.

  • Patent number: 6854835
Abstract: An ink cartridge including: an ink chamber for retaining liquid ink; a foam chamber maintained in fluid communication with the ink chamber through a communication hole. An ink supply port for supplying ink from a porous body accommodated in the foam chamber to a recording head is provided. The portion of the foam body confronting the ink supply port is compressed by the ink supply port. The ratio between the amount of ink initially charged in the ink chamber and that of ink absorbed in the porous body is in the range from 1:1 to 1:3. When a cartridge uses more than one color of ink for printing in color, a plurality of foam and ink cartridges are used. The cartridge is filled under reduced pressure while the interior of the cartridge is further evacuated before filling with ink.

  • Patent number: 6676237
Abstract: An ink cartridge for supplying ink to a recording head is detachably mounted on a cartridge holder. A calculator performs calculation of an ink amount consumed by the recording head. A counter updates a residual ink amount in the mounted ink cartridge based on the consumed ink amount calculated by the calculator. A monitor monitors an ink amount contained in the mounted ink cartridge to judge at least an ink-end state in which the ink amount in the ink cartridge is a predetermined amount or less. A corrector corrects the way of calculation in the calculator based on the residual ink amount indicated by the counter, when the monitor judges that the mounted ink cartridge is in the ink-end state.
