Abstract: A type printer has at least two colors of ink applied alternately in a column direction and is shifted in the column direction for each rotation of the type drum. The type drum is automatically halted once the drum has completed two revolutions. A selection and stop release mechanism control rotation of the type drum, perform type selection and release an automatic stop state of the type drum at the beginning of each print line. A trigger mechanism is synchronized with a pulse generated by a detection mechanism and corresponds to the type position on the type drum. A damper mechanism substantially avoids vibration or rotational fluctuations in the type drum.
