Abstract: A virtual golf simulation device and a method for the same are disclosed. The virtual golf simulation device includes a sensor for sensing flight of a ball hit by a golfer, an image processor for processing a simulated image of a virtual golf course and a simulated image of a flight trajectory of the ball sensed by the sensor, a database including a text storing part for storing text data corresponding to predetermined voice guides to determined text data among the text data stored in the text storing part to voice, and a controller for identifying a situation to trigger voice guidance to the golfer, extracting or extracting and combining the predetermined text data, and outputting the extracted or combined text data to the voice converter.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for predicting video traffic are provided. The method includes extracting the statistical properties of previous Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)-4 video traffic and predicting the size of a subsequent frame based on the statistical properties of the previous MPEG-4 video traffic. Therefore, it is possible to address such problems associated with traffic bursts as transmission delays or low throughputs and thus to improve the performance of communication and network systems that transmit video traffic.

Abstract: Disclosed are a composite retardation plate, a composite polarizing plate including the same and a method for manufacturing the same. More particularly, a composite retardation plate is prepared by corona or plasma treatment of a face of a liquid crystal coating layer formed on a polymeric base film to improve adhesion therebetween and then directly providing a surface treatment coating layer above the coated film, thus being produced by a simple process without using a glass material while requiring neither an additional base material nor adhesive layer. Therefore, the retardation plate prepared as described above is desirably used as a retarder for a thin-film type display. The present invention also provides a composite polarizing plate including the above retardation plate and a method for manufacturing the foregoing.
