  • Patent number: 7512086
Abstract: Disclosed is an uplink random access procedure in an NB-TDD (Narrow Band Time Division Duplexing) system. To achieve an acknowledgement for data transmission from a UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network), a UE selects one of a plurality of sync codes by which the UTRAN identifies UEs that request data transmission and transmits the selected sync code in a time slot of a sub-frame to the UTRAN. Then, the UE receives the sync code information, information about the arrival time of the sync code, time update information indicating a variation in the transmission time of data, and power information indicating an adjustment to a power gain in the UE from the UTRAN on an FPACH (Fast Physical Access Channel). The UE transmits the data on a P-RACH (Physical Random Access Channel) mapped from the FPACH according to the time update information and the power information.

  • Patent number: 7404138
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for encoding k consecutive inputs indicating a TFCI (Transport Format Combination Indicator) of each of successively transmitted frames into a sequence of m symbols in an NB-TDD (Narrowband-Time Division Duplex) mobile communication system. An encoder encodes the k input bits into a sequence of at least 2n symbols where 2n>m, using an extended Reed-Muller code from a Kasami sequence. A puncturer performs puncturing on the sequence of 2n symbols from the encoder so as to output a sequence of m symbols.

  • Patent number: 7366117
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sharing a DL-DPCH in an NB-TDD system. Two time slots at the same position in two subframes forming one radio frame are allocated as a DPCH for two UEs. A Node B arranges data and control information for the UEs in the two time slots and transmits the data and control information to the UEs. The UEs extract the data and control information from the two time slots and acquire the data and control information destined for the individual UEs.

  • Patent number: 7352721
Abstract: A joint channel and Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation apparatus and method simplified to efficiently estimate a channel impulse response associated with a spatially selective transmission channel occurring in a mobile radio channel are provided. To uniformly process all directions, angles associated with a beam are predetermined according to a preset method. This selection calculates a linear system model with regular spatial sampling using regular spatial separation of beam angles. The novel beam forming compensates for a difference between an adaptive array antenna and a sector type antenna using appropriate beam steering according to the calculated linear system model, thereby improving performance and facilitating implementation.

  • Patent number: 7113496
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for indicating an end of transmitting data frames in order to enable a UTRAN (UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) Terrestrial Radio Access Network) to assign a common packet channel to another user equipment (UE) in a UE for a CDMA mobile communication system. The UE requests assignment of any one of a number of common packet channels assignable in the UTRAN; the UE is assigned a common packet channel by the UTRAN in response to the to request; the UE sequentially transmits the data frames and their associated control frames over the assigned common packet channel; and the UE transmits at least one control frame, in an appointed field of which a given bit pattern appointed with the UTRAN is registered, in order to inform the UTRAN of an end of data transmission upon completing data transmission through the data frames.

  • Publication number: 20060115010
Abstract: An apparatus and method for reducing a Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) in a broadband wireless communication system. A transmitter classifies symbols into full-symbols and sub-symbols, and divides a transmission full-symbol into at least two sub-symbols and transmits the sub-symbols, when the transmission full-symbol has a PAPR larger than a threshold set in the system. A receiver checks a transmitted symbol, determines if a full-symbol or a sub-symbol has arrived, and outputs a data when the full-symbol has arrived.

  • Patent number: 7031277
Abstract: Disclosed is a handover controlling method in an RNC connected to a first Node B and a second Node B in a mobile communication system where a USTS service occurs between the first Node B and a UE within a cell of the first Node B and the UE hands over when the UE is located in a handover area across the cell areas of the first Node B and the second Node B adjacent to the first Node B. The method comprises determining whether the handover for the UE is possible or not; transmitting handover information to the second Node B if the handover is possible; and transmitting a command to the UE through the first Node B, requesting the UE to hand over to the second Node B if the UE receives a response message indicating that the handover is possible from the second Node B.

  • Patent number: 7006482
Abstract: A method for transmitting control data on a downlink and/or uplink channel in a base station and/or mobile station in a mobile communication system. In one embodiment, the base station determines whether there is downlink channel data to transmit to a mobile station. If there is no data to be transmitted over the downlink channel for a predetermined time period, the base station drives a random gating position selector to determine a random gating slot position, gates on the control data at the determined slot position, and gates off the control data at other slot positions.
