  • Publication number: 20040257979
Abstract: In a radio communication system that transmits reference signals for identifying a plurality of base stations from the base station to mobile stations, base station identification patterns for identifying base stations are generated by providing a method for dividing a frequency domain in a frequency-time domain given with the frequency domain and a time domain into a plurality of sub-bands. Reference signal patterns are determined in a predetermined time domain within the time domain at each of the sub-bands. In this way, the number of base stations that can be identified is increased.

  • Publication number: 20040216025
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for encoding k consecutive inputs indicating a TFCI (Transport Format Combination Indicator) of each of successively transmitted frames into a sequence of m symbols in an NB-TDD (Narrowband-Time Division Duplex) mobile communication system. An encoder encodes the k input bits into a sequence of at least 2n symbols where 2n>m, using an extended Reed-Muller code from a Kasami sequence. A puncturer performs puncturing on the sequence of 2n symbols from the encoder so as to output a sequence of m symbols.

  • Publication number: 20040170157
Abstract: An ultra wideband communication system, in which first preamble for synchronization is generated using an aperiodic sequence with an aperiodic correlation property, and second preamble for channel estimation is generated using the aperiodic sequence or a periodic sequence with a periodic correlation property. • Publication number: 20040170121
Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting header information in an ultra wide band (UWB) communication system. To protect physical layer header information from errors that may occur during transmission in the UWB communication system, a transmitter transmits the header information after encoding it with an error-correcting code, whereas a receiver decodes the encoded header information with the error-correcting code. This improves the throughput in a wireless network and also decreases the bit error rate.

  • Patent number: 6757536
Abstract: There is provided a method of providing site selection diversity in a mobile communication system. If an active set is updated, the category of the old active set is compared with that of the updated active set. According to the comparison result, station (BS) identification (ID) codes are reassigned to base stations in the updated active base set. The reassigned BS ID codes are transmitted to the corresponding base stations and the category of the updated active set is transmitted to all the base stations of the updated active set.

  • Patent number: 6690712
Abstract: There is provided a transmission diversity system. In the case where an MS supporting a different antenna transmission diversity scheme enters the service area of a 4-antenna transmission diversity UTRAN, the UTRAN can transmit pilot signals and common data signals to the MS without the need of modifications to the MS. Therefore, power is distributed among antennas of the UTRAN and system capacity is increased.

  • Publication number: 20030103476
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining by a UTRAN a persistence value having a value between 0 and 1 for adjusting a number of access preambles from a plurality of UEs requiring assignment of a common packet channel (CPCH). The method includes the steps of counting a number of the access preambles detected in an access preamble period having a predetermined period; and determining the persistence value based on the number of counted access preambles. The persistence value is determined in a unit of transport format (TF), physical common packet channel (PCPCH), or CPCH set.

  • Patent number: 6526037
Abstract: A method for allocating signature sequence used to distinguish my own signal from the other user's signals in a code division multiple access system comprising the steps of obtaining and selecting a Park-Song sequence based upon a specific equations; allocating the selected Park-Song sequence as the signature sequence to the pertinent user; performing communications using the allocated signature sequence; and generating the signature sequence as the Park-Song sequence added to the beginning and ending ‘patches’ of itself at both ends.

  • Publication number: 20020018457
Abstract: Disclosed is a channel allocation method in a CDMA communication system. The method comprises receiving from a UTRAN one SF node CSF,k out of 2m−1 SF nodes (where m is an integer larger than 3) arranged in the form of a tree having a mother node and child nodes; searching a group including the received SF node CSF,k in accordance with Formula (1) below; spreading a signal on a dedicated physical data channel (DPDCH) with an OVSF code corresponding to a selected one of the received SF node and its child nodes in the searched group; and spreading a signal on a dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) with an OVSF code corresponding to an SF node determined by Formula (2) below based on the received SF node.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for synchronizing a scrambling code in a CDMA communication system including a UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network) and a plurality of user equipments (UEs), using orthogonal codes for identifying the UEs and a single scrambling code for identifying the UTRAN by the UEs, and employing an uplink synchronous transmission scheme (USTS) where the UEs synchronize frames of uplink dedicated physical channels (DPCHs) using the single scrambling code. The UEs receive a reference signal including reference time information provided from the UTRAN and transmit a random access channel (RACH) based on the reference time.

  • Publication number: 20010046220
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for indicating an end of transmitting data frames in order to enable a UTRAN (UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) Terrestrial Radio Access Network) to assign a common packet channel to another user equipment (UE) in a UE for a CDMA mobile communication system. The UE requests assignment of any one of a number of common packet channels assignable in the UTRAN; the UE is assigned a common packet channel by the UTRAN in response to the to request; the UE sequentially transmits the data frames and their associated control frames over the assigned common packet channel; and the UE transmits at least one control frame, in an appointed field of which a given bit pattern appointed with the UTRAN is registered, in order to inform the UTRAN of an end of data transmission upon completing data transmission through the data frames.
