  • Publication number: 20140128052
Abstract: A method implemented by an outdoor broadband unit includes receiving, by a broadband home router within the outdoor broadband unit, a request for services associated with a wide area network (WAN), the request originating from a device within a local area network (LAN) associated with the broadband home router; generating, by the broadband home router and based on the request, an attention (AT) command to a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) module, within the outdoor broadband unit, the LTE module providing an air interface for the WAN; executing, by the LTE module, the AT command; receiving, by the broadband home router and from the LTE module, a return value based on the executed AT command; and sending, by the broadband home router and to the device within the LAN, a response to the request based on the return value.

  • Patent number: 8718085
Abstract: An outdoor broadband unit implements full IP-based routing between a wide area network (WAN)-side interface (such as a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) air interface) and a local area network (LAN)-side interface (such as a home network using MoCA protocol). The outdoor broadband unit maintains a routing table for all connections through an internal routing system based on matching between WAN-side Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and/or ports and LAN-side IP addresses and/or ports. The outdoor broadband unit may support both connection-oriented transport layer routing (such as Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)) and connectionless transport layer routing (such as User Datagram Protocol (UDP)).

  • Patent number: 8693953
Abstract: A device receives first information about a wireless communication service within a venue. The device further receives, from one or more small cells within the venue, second information about traffic load of the one or more small cells. The device generates third information based on the first information and the second information. The third information assigns network resources to one or more services provided to mobile devices, within the venue, via the small cells. The device transmits the third information to configure the one or more small cells.

  • Patent number: 8670385
Abstract: A device may receive, from a base station, information that identifies traffic conditions within the base station; and may assign one or more different frequency bands to each of one or more applications being provisioned, by the base station, to one or more user devices based on the information that identifies the traffic conditions within the base station. The device may also generate allocation information that identifies how the different frequency bands are allocated to each of the applications; and transmit, via the base station, the allocation information to the user devices, where transmitting the allocation information allows a user device to identify a frequency band with which to obtain an application.

  • Patent number: 8520544
Abstract: Interference, from fixed wireless terminals, communicating with, for example, an LTE network, can be intelligently reduced for nearby public safety networks. A fixed terminal may, for instance, determine a signal strength of radio signals from a public safety wireless network, and perform a threshold comparison of the signal strength to determine whether the fixed terminal is located in an edge area of a cell of the public safety wireless network. The fixed terminal may reduce transmission power, to the network of the fixed terminal (e.g., the LTE network), when the threshold comparison indicates that the device is located in the edge area of the cell of the public safety wireless network.

  • Publication number: 20130215813
Abstract: A method includes receiving an indication of current quality of service for a transmission received by user equipment from a base station. The method includes identifying target quality of service values for the transmission. A current FEC value and a current MCS value is identified for the transmission. An adjusted FEC value and an adjusted MCS value is determined based on the current FEC value and the current MCS value, the indication of current quality of service, and the target quality of service values. The method includes outputting the adjusted FEC value to a broadcast multicast service center for the transmission. The method also includes outputting the adjusted MCS value to the base station.

  • Publication number: 20130163444
Abstract: Content may be transmitted to mobile devices, in a network, using a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (MBMS) multicast technique over wireless interfaces in the network. In one implementation, network elements in the network may receive feedback about the MBMS multicast transmission, where the feedback relates to a quality of the content, as received by the one or more mobile devices, or to the quality of the radio channel. The devices may determine whether to modify transmission parameters relating to the MBMS multicast transmission and may determine whether to retransmit lost data, corresponding to the content, to the mobile devices. The lost data may be retransmitted as a unicast transmission or a multicast transmission.

  • Publication number: 20130145402
Abstract: A system may include one or more devices. The one or more devices may obtain indications of quantities of wireless resources that are available at a group of wireless transmission devices, and determine, based on the obtained indications, an amount of wireless resources to allocate to a broadcast service that provides video on demand content. The one or more devices may further cause the determined amount of wireless resources to be allocated, from a unicast service, to the broadcast service at one or more wireless transmission devices, of the group of wireless transmission devices.
