    Abstract: An air bearing slider for a disk drive, which has a read/write head mounted thereon and is lifted from a surface of a disk due to a lifting force generated by the rotation of the disk, and a suspension assembly including the air bearing slider, the air bearing slide includes: a slider body, which has a disk facing surface facing the surface of the disk and a rear surface opposite to the disk facing surface; a positive pressure forming rail part, which protrudes from the disk facing surface of the slider body and generates a positive pressure for lifting the slider body from the surface of the disk; and an air ventilator, which passes obliquely through the slider body from the disk facing surface to the rear surface in an air flow direction and discharges air introduced between the disk and the slider body and particles contained in the air.

    Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for controlling a data storage system according to a temperature which thermally expands a write head pole tip of a write head includes supplying the write head with a predetermined warming current in a low temperature environment, so as to prevent a degradation of a writing characteristic of a signal in an initial writing stage. Therefore, errors due to a degradation of a signal level written in a sector of an initial writing mode do not occur by performing a warming write using the predetermined warming current so that data existing in a storage system before performing a writing mode is not erased, and by sufficiently thermally expanding the write head pole tip of the write head until a saturation state before writing starts.

    Abstract: A driving apparatus for a plasma display panel with a pulse generator to supply an alternating pulse to an electrode, and an energy recovering unit to store charges from a discharge cell when the pulse voltage decreases or to output the stored charges to the discharge cell when the pulse voltage increases. The energy recovering unit has a magnetic switch, coupled with the discharge cell and an energy storage capacitor, with variable inductance to control transient time when the pulse transitions from a first voltage to a second voltage. The transient time is based on LC resonance of the magnetic switch inductance and panel capacitance, and can be reduced to improve resolution of the panel. Insulated gate bipolar transistors can be used with the magnetic switches to reduce power loss during switching and in the on-state, and can sustain high voltages necessary for high concentration Xe discharge gas.
