  • Publication number: 20030203199
Abstract: Disclosed is a spandex fiber prepared to be excellent in resistance to both chlorine and heat without affecting the properties of the polyurethane polymer, and manufacturing method thereof. The spandex fiber contains hydrotalcite coated with 0.1 to 10 wt. % of a melamine-based compound. The melamine-based compound includes melamine compounds, phosphor-associated melamine compounds, melamine cyanurate compounds, melamine compounds substituted with an organic compound having a carboxyl group, phosphor-associated melamine compounds substituted with an organic compound having a carboxyl group, or melamine cyanurate compounds substituted with an organic compound having a carboxyl group, which are used alone or in combination. The spandex fiber has a high resistance to both chlorine and heat and is therefore useful for underwear, socks, and particularly, sports apparels such as swimsuit.

  • Publication number: 20030198809
Abstract: Disclosed is a fluorescent elastic yarn and method for producing the same. The fluorescent elastic yarn can fluoresce sufficiently to allow a thin elastic yarn to be seen by the naked eye when ultraviolet light is irradiated to the fluorescent elastic yarn by adding a novel organic additive to a polymer or a spinfinish. Therefore, the fluorescent elastic yarn of the present invention is advantageous in that production of inferior covered yarns is prevented.

  • Patent number: 6044423
Abstract: An identification system for use in a portable computer incorporating optional swappable devices through one swap bay is disclosed. The identification system includes an ID provider provided at each of the swappable device for providing specific device information with the portable computer through an I/O port. The device information includes for example an identification number representing the kind of the peripheral device, a CD-ROM speed data, a storage capacity data, and a manufacturer data. This information is stored in a memory such as an EEPROM and the data is transferred serially to the computer system in response to a command generated in the computer. The identification system further includes a ROM BIOS for reading out the device information from the swappable device to perform initialization therefor based on the device information when the computer is started or a swap check request signal is invoked during operation of the computer.

  • Patent number: 5758172
Abstract: An apparatus and method for displaying power management system (PMS) information in a portable computer includes a video random access memory (RAM) for storing the power management system (PMS) information as a preset data configuration. A keyboard controller outputs a signal corresponding to an operating state represented by a user key selection and a system interrupt signal. A power management system (PMS) controller outputs a corresponding signal after sensing a present charging/discharging state of the voltage of a battery. A real-time clock (RTC) stores data corresponding to the mode and level of the power management system (PMS) set during an initial set-up step of computer operation. A video controller reads the power management system (PMS) information stored in the video random access memory (RAM), and displays the information as a preset data configuration on a display unit when a corresponding key signal is output from the keyboard controller.

  • Patent number: 5644015
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process of producing a polymer suitable for manufacturing spandex filament having remarkable elastic recovery rate and heat-setting efficiency wherein the process comprises: stirring a mixture of a glycol and a diisocyante, where the molar ratio of diisocyanate to glycol is 1.5 to 1.64, in a homogenizer at about 40.degree. to about 50.degree. C. and reacting said mixture to give a first polymer containing less than 4 mole % of unreacted diisocyanate; then, reacting said polymer with a chain-extender mixture containing ethylenediamine, 1,2-diaminopropane, and diethylenetriamine, preferably, about 74 to about 80 mole % of ethylenediamine, about 19 to about 25 mole % of 1,2-diaminopropane and about 0.2 to about 0.8 mole % of diethylenetriamine. Elastic polyurethaneurea-based spandex filament is produced by dry-spinning the polymer.
