    Abstract: A computer-implemented method according to one embodiment includes determining patterns of an application that utilizes a filesystem and/or properties of queries of the application. Data of the filesystem is stored across a plurality of replication sites of a data storage system. Based on the determined patterns of the application and/or the determined proper-ties of the queries of the application, a utility of storing at least some of the data of the filesystem in different variations at more than one of the replication sites is estimated. The estimated utility is compared against a predetermined utility threshold, and in response to a determination that the estimated utility is greater than the predetermined utility threshold, a write system call offered by the filesystem is modified to store the data in different variations at more than one of the replication sites.

    Abstract: Techniques of authenticating a first device of a user to a second device are disclosed. The method enables the second device to perform authentication using a biometric template stored on the first device and a biometric measurement. Homomorphic encryption may be used by the first device to encrypt the biometric template and the second device to determine an encrypted similarity metric between the biometric template and the biometric measurement. The second device can also determine an encrypted code using an authentication function and the encrypted similarity metric. The second device sends the encrypted code and the encrypted similarity metric to be decrypted by the first device. The second device can receive a response from the first device, indicating whether a decrypted similarity metric exceeds a threshold; and whether the decrypted code matches a test code. The second device can then authenticate the user based on the response.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices described herein can configure a cryptocurrency wallet or other blockchain-based account to be self-aware and alert the owner of the wallet to one or more potentially fraudulent situations occurring with at least one account they own. The wallet may be a hardware-based cryptocurrency wallet or may be a blockchain-based account operating by an external financial institution that allows for the management of cryptocurrency assets. The self-aware wallet can be configured to track all relevant previously known and/or approved transactions associated with a user's private cryptocurrency key. A subsequent scan on one or more blockchains is performed to detect new transactions associated with the user's private key. If a newly detected blockchain transaction is not in the list of previously known or approved user transactions, a potential compromise may be occurring. Once detected, the wallet can generate a notification to the user alerting them to the issue.

    Abstract: Photonic processors are described. The photonic processors described herein are configured to perform matrix-matrix (e.g., matrix-vector) multiplication. Some embodiments relate to photonic processors arranged according to a dual-rail architecture, in which numeric values are encoded in the difference between a pair optical signals (e.g., in the difference between the powers of the optical signals). Relative to other architectures, these photonic processors exhibit increased immunity to noise. Some embodiments relate to photonic processors including modulatable detector-based multipliers. Modulatable detectors are detectors designed so that the photocurrent can be modulated according to an electrical control signal. Photonic processors designed using modulatable detector-based multipliers are significantly more compact than other types of photonic processors.

    Abstract: A method of WDR imaging. Exposure times (ETs) are set for first and second frames for an image sensor to avoid second frame saturating by setting a second ET>1/a PWM frequency applied to an LED illuminating a scene to generate second longer ET pixel data (PD). The first frame has first PD and a first ET<the second ET. A high and low intensity threshold are calculated from a full well capacity. Raw image signals are obtained originating from the image sensor of the scene. Flicker is detected by comparing the first and second frame intensity values to the high and low threshold to determine whether the first PD is flickering data. A WDR merge is performed by selecting weightings from the first and second PD for each pixel including increasing weighting of the second PD for flicker. A final image is formed from the weighted WDR merge.
