  • Patent number: 10769676
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to facilitating control of advertisement spending. In embodiments, a spend rate allocated to a datacenter having a plurality of bidders is referenced. The spend rate allocated to the data center is used to determine a spend rate per bidder for each of the plurality of bidders within the datacenter. For each bidder, the spend rate per bidder is used to generate a bid rate indicating a number of advertisement bids to place per unit of time in accordance with a real time advertisement auction. Each bid rate generated for the corresponding bidder is intended to result in placement of an amount of advertisement bids that correspond with the spend rate per bidder. The bid rates are provided to the plurality of bidders, wherein each of the plurality of bidders uses the corresponding bid rate to determine whether to place a bid for an advertisement.

  • Patent number: 10761553
Abstract: Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable type detection and control techniques are disclosed. In an exemplary aspect, a device connected to a cable detects whether the cable is a legacy cable (i.e., a Type-A to Type-C cable). If the cable is a legacy cable, the device determines an appropriate current to draw based on whether the cable is compliant with the USB Type-C specification or non-compliant. Additional exemplary aspects of the present disclosure determine whether a connector adaptor has been put on a legacy cable and determines an appropriate current to draw based on the capabilities of the legacy cable. Still further aspects of the present disclosure evaluate not only the cable to see if the cable limits the current draw, but also evaluate a device at a distal end of the cable to verify if and how current may be drawn by such remote device from a mobile terminal.

  • Publication number: 20200275141
Abstract: A method and system for dynamically watermarking media content based on transport-stream metadata, to facilitate action by a downstream entity. An intermediary in a media-distribution path could receive a transport stream carrying media content and carrying metadata that is not watermarked in the media content. The intermediary could then obtain from the transport stream the metadata that is not watermarked in the media content and could modify the media content at least by encoding into the media content a watermark that represents the obtained metadata. And the intermediary could then output at least the modified media content for transmission to a downstream entity. The downstream entity could thus obtain from the watermark in the media content the metadata and could use the metadata to facilitate carrying out one or more useful actions.

  • Publication number: 20200275168
Abstract: Use of watermarking in a media stream as a trigger for carrying out a fingerprint-related action, such as starting to generate fingerprints of the media stream, increasing a rate of generation of fingerprints of the media stream, starting to report fingerprints of the media stream, requesting fingerprints, or engaging in a fingerprint comparison. In an implementation, a media client that is processing the media stream could detect the watermark in the media stream and could responsively carry out or cause to be carried out a fingerprint-related action. Or an entity in a media-distribution path along which the media stream flows to a media client could detect the watermark in the media stream and could responsively carry out or cause to be carried out a fingerprint-related action. Further, the watermark could be inserted into the media stream in the first place based on transport-stream carried metadata, among other possibilities.

  • Publication number: 20200265079
Abstract: The overall architecture and details of a scalable video fingerprinting and identification system that is robust with respect to many classes of video distortions is described. In this system, a fingerprint for a piece of multimedia content is composed of a number of compact signatures, along with traversal hash signatures and associated metadata. Numerical descriptors are generated for features found in a multimedia clip, signatures are generated from these descriptors, and a reference signature database is constructed from these signatures. Query signatures are also generated for a query multimedia clip. These query signatures are searched against the reference database using a fast similarity search procedure, to produce a candidate list of matching signatures. This candidate list is further analyzed to find the most likely reference matches. Signature correlation is performed between the likely reference matches and the query clip to improve detection accuracy.

  • Patent number: 10746123
Abstract: An engine system includes an air handling and fuel system whose states are managed by a reference managing unit. The engine system has a plurality of sensors whose sensor signals at least partially define a current state of the engine system. The reference managing unit includes a controller which controls the air handling and fuel system of the engine system as well as a processing unit coupled to the sensors and the controller. The processing unit includes an agent which learns a policy function that is trained to process the current state, determines air handling references and fuel system references by using the policy function after receiving the current state as an input, and outputs the air handling references and fuel system references to the controller. Then, the agent receives a next state and a reward value from the processing unit and updates the policy function using a policy evaluation algorithm and a policy improvement algorithm based on the received reward value.

  • Patent number: 10743777
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments pertain to cardiovascular parameter (e.g. heart rate) measurements when motion is present. Biometric sensor signal measurements may be obtained based on cardiovascular parameters of a user; and motion sensor signal measurements may be obtained based on user motion. An activity type may be determined based on the motion sensor signals. For example, when non-motion related frequencies in a frequency domain representation of the biometric sensor signal are obscured by user motion, an activity type may be determined based on the motion sensor signals. Further, based on the activity type, for each cardiovascular parameter (e.g. heart rate), a corresponding likely cardiovascular parameter value (e.g. a likely heart rate) may be determined. A corresponding fundamental frequency associated with the biometric sensor signal may then be determined for each cardiovascular parameter based on the motion sensor signal measurements and the corresponding likely cardiovascular parameter value.
