  • Publication number: 20190266020
Abstract: An apparatus includes a memory and a hardware processor. The memory stores one or more scheduling histories. The processor receives a first list from a first client device and a second list from a second client device. The first list includes a first job and the second list includes a second job. The processor calculates a first resource requirement to execute the first job and a second resource requirement to execute the second job. The processor determines that a conflict exists between the first job and the second job and in response, communicates messages to the first and second client devices indicating the conflict and proposed times for executing the jobs. The processor determines based on responses to the messages, execution times for the first and second jobs, assigns permission identifiers to the first and second jobs, and communicates a schedule.

  • Patent number: 10386439
Abstract: A lung segmentation processor (40) is configured to classify magnetic resonance (MR) images based on noise characteristics. The MR segmenatation processor generates a lung region of interest (ROI) and detailed structure segmentation of the lung from the ROI. The MR segmentation processor performs an iterative normalization and region definition approach that captures the entire lung and the soft tissues within the lung accurately. Accuracy of the segmentation relies on artifact classification coming inherently from MR images. The MR segmentation processor (40) correlates segmented lung internal tissue pixels with the lung density to determine the attenuation coefficients based on the correlation. Lung densities are computed using MR data obtained from imaging sequences that minimize echo and acquisition times. The densities differentiate healthy tissues and lesions, which an attenuation map processor (36) uses to create localized attenuation maps for the lung.

  • Patent number: 10387378
Abstract: When a backup client sends a request to back up a file to a backup server, the file and an index (e.g., checksum, hash, encryption, etc.) of the file are stored on the backup server in an efficient deduplication storage. If a backup client sends a request to back up a modified version of a file already stored on a backup server, the modified portion of the file is stored. In addition, an index of the modified portion is generated and stored along with the modified portions on the backup server. The indices can be used to reconstruct the file or modified version of the file when retrieved. The efficient deduplication storage method ensures that multiple copies of files or portions of files do not exist on the servers.

  • Patent number: 10378295
Abstract: A method of operating a gas extraction system includes receiving a drilling fluid sample at a flow meter via a flow meter inlet conduit and discharging the drilling fluid sample into a flow meter outlet conduit. A first inline mud valve positioned in the flow meter inlet conduit and a second inline mud valve positioned in the flow meter outlet conduit are each closed to transition the gas extraction system to a bypass flushing configuration. A bypass flow meter valve positioned in a flow meter bypass conduit is opened to divert the drilling fluid sample around the flow meter. The flow meter is then flushed with flushing fluid by opening first and second flow meter flushing valves and starting a pump to circulate the flushing fluid through the flow meter.

  • Patent number: 10380428
Abstract: Techniques are described for analyzing a video for memorability, identifying content features of the video that are likely to be memorable, and scoring specific content features within the video for memorability. The techniques can be optionally applied to selected features in the video, thus improving the memorability of the selected features. The features may be organic features of the originally captured video or add-in features provided using an editing tool. The memorability of video features, text features, or both can be improved by analyzing the effects of applying different styles or edits (e.g., sepia tone, image sharpen, image blur, annotation, addition of object) to the content features or to the video in general. Recommendations can then be provided regarding memorability score caused by application of the image styles to the video features.

  • Patent number: 10375504
Abstract: There is a need to enable a wireless device to output signals such that the natural instincts of the user may be triggered. The present disclosure provides a solution by enabling a wireless device to determine a time delay and intensity difference associated with an audio output at a subset output devices based at least in part on a perceived spatial placement of at least one signal, a position of the transmitting device, and/or a signal strength associated with the signal. Using the time delay and the intensity difference, the output devices farthest from the transmitting device may output the at least one signal using the time delay and the intensity difference such that the user may detecting differences in the sound wave's time of arrival and intensity at the left ear versus the right ear, and thus, perceive the location of the audio source.

  • Patent number: 10366144
Abstract: A set of images is accessed from a server. The set is analyzed to identify objects in each image using object recognition algorithms. A primary image that includes more of the identified objects than any of the other images of the set is determined. For each of the identified objects in the primary image, a secondary image that includes the identified object and has a higher magnification than the primary image is determined. Links are inserted into the primary image at locations including an identified object that is also in a secondary image. The primary image is displayed and, upon receiving a selection of one of the links, the secondary image that includes the identified object at the location of the selected link is displayed. The set of images is ordered based on relative positons of the identified objects in each image and then linked together based on the ordering.

  • Publication number: 20190228546
Abstract: Iterative reconstruction (20) of imaging data is performed to generate a sequence of update images (22) terminating at a reconstructed image. During the iterative reconstruction, at least one of an update image and a parameter of the iterative reconstruction is adjusted using an adjustment process separate from the iterative reconstruction. In some embodiments using an edge-preserving regularization prior (26), the adjustment process (30) adjusts an edge preservation threshold to reduce gradient steepness above which edge preservation applies for later iterations compared with earlier iterations. In some embodiments, the adjustment process includes determining (36, 38) for each pixel, voxel, or region of a current update image whether its evolution prior to the current update image 22) satisfies an artifact feature criterion. A local noise suppression operation (40) is performed on the pixel, voxel, or region if the evolution satisfies the artifact feature criterion and is not performed otherwise.

  • Publication number: 20190221282
Abstract: Analysis of the flow of fluxes through the metabolic network of a cell type is useful in gaining knowledge about cellular physiology. Such knowledge can be used in understanding host's interactions with pathogens, drug response etc. However there is dearth of techniques that can incorporate metabolomics data into genome scale metabolic model (GEM) for FBA. A method and system for analyzing metabolic state of a cell at a genome scale by measuring concentrations of a one or more metabolites has been disclosed. The method is utilizing intracellular and/or extracellular metabolite concentrations for constraining reaction fluxes in FBA by incorporating it as part of stoichiometric constraint to metabolic model. The method is used to predict the change in flux flow through all reactions in an organism/cell type under different experimental conditions. The method enables constraining the flow of fluxes through reactions while performing FBA of GEMs using measured metabolite concentrations.

  • Patent number: 10356244
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for automated predictive call routing using reinforcement learning. A server captures a bitstream of an incoming call from a first client device, the bitstream including metadata comprising attributes of the incoming call and attributes of a user of the device. The server determines an identity of the user based upon the metadata. The server generates a first context vector comprising a multidimensional array corresponding to the metadata. The server inserts the first vector into a high-dimensional vector space comprising historical context vectors, each historical vector (i) corresponding to metadata associated with a historical call and (ii) associated with an income value and a routing decision. The server determines historical vectors in proximity to the first vector. The server identifies one of the determined historical vectors with an optimal income value and routes the bitstream to a second device using the routing decision.
