  • Patent number: 9758200
Abstract: An aerodynamic drag reduction device for use on an over-the-road cargo vehicle. The vehicle has a prismatically shaped cargo area, which includes a rear face of the cargo area substantially perpendicular to the direction of travel. The device comprises a plurality of resilient prongs arranged along a rear edge of the vehicle body, extending from a respective fixed end secured to the vehicle body rearward in a flow-wise direction beyond the rear edge of the vehicle body to a respective free end. Each prong is separated from an adjacent prong in the plurality, and each is flexible to permit deflection, under the influence of airflow over the vehicle at a predetermined speed, above and below a first plane defined by the surface of the vehicle to which the plurality of prongs is secured. Each prong is further resistant to deflecting in a direction parallel to the first plane.

  • Publication number: 20170255961
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a coverage area associated with an advertising display device, monitoring presence and motion of a plurality of communication devices with respect to the coverage area to determine a viewing time and a trajectory within the coverage area for each communication device, and associating each device with a user profile that comprises demographic data and preference data. Each user profile is assigned weighting factors based the viewing time and the trajectory for the associated device, thereby generating a weighted user profile for each of a plurality of users. The weighted user profiles are then aggregated to generate a time-dependent audience profile for the coverage area that is associated with an item of advertising content at the advertising display device. The audience profile is analyzed; a new item of advertising content can be selected and displayed. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9749830
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed. An example method includes attempting to establish a remote communication path to a wireless network from a proxy, the proxy physically attached to a balloon. A determination is made as to whether an emergency procedure is to be performed. In response to a first determination that the remote communication path is established and that the emergency procedure is to be performed, a current location of the proxy is determined, and the current location of the proxy is transmitted to an emergency server.

  • Publication number: 20170244712
Abstract: A method includes, after expiration of a first passcode, receiving, at an access point, a first access request from a first device. The first access request may be encrypted based on the first passcode. The method further includes determining whether an identifier of the first device is included in a device list associated with the first passcode. The device list includes identifiers of devices that accessed the access point using encryption based on the first passcode before the expiration of the first passcode. The method also includes, in response to a determination that the identifier of the first device is included in the device list generating, at the access point, data representing a second passcode by encrypting the second passcode using the first passcode. The method further includes sending the data representing the second passcode to the first device from the access point.

  • Patent number: 9743369
Abstract: A handset agent calibration solution is provided that uses the GPS receivers on mobile devices to determine a location of the mobile device to calibrate timing based locating systems. The handset agent can be installed on the mobile device and can upload to an internet server the coordinates captured by the GPS receiver along with the observed time differences. The observed time differences and the location of the mobile device can be used to solve for reference time differences to calibrate unsynchronized macrocells. The reference time difference can be used to solve for the location of other mobile devices if the observed time differences between that mobile device and the macrocells are known. The solution can include receiving measurement reports from many mobile devices to obtain averaged observed time differences at a reference location to achieve more accurate reference time differences.

  • Patent number: 9735909
Abstract: A radio repeater system is described that disables itself to avoid interfering with mobile network performed multilateration of mobile devices. The radio repeater provides additional network coverage for a localized area. The localized area can include enclosed spaces such as buildings or transportation terminals. The radio repeater system can monitor the signals received from cell towers, and if there are at least three signals of a predetermined signal strength, the radio repeater can disable itself to avoid interfering with mobile locating performed by the network. The radio repeater can remain disabled until the conditions that led to the disabling have passed.

  • Publication number: 20170219368
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a navigation system that includes a positioning system configured to generate location data indicating a current location of the navigation system. Destination data is received indicating a destination. User selectable route planning weights are received, corresponding to route planning criteria including route time and at least one mobile network performance criterion. A route from the current location to the destination is selected by: evaluating candidate routes according to each of the route planning criteria to generate individual route planning criteria scores for each of the candidate routes; scoring each of the candidate routes according a total candidate score generated by applying the user selectable route planning weights to corresponding ones of the route planning criteria scores; and selecting the route by determining one of the candidate routes with a favorable total candidate score.

  • Patent number: 9717466
Abstract: A device for processing alarms includes a processor and a computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform various operations. The operations include receiving a first alarm from a first diagnostic device and determining a location associated with a first user. When the location associated with the first user is determined to be proximate to a device, the operations further include presenting a first verbal alert indicating that the first diagnostic device is presenting the first alarm. When the location associated with the first user is determined to be not proximate to the device, the operations further include sending a first notification message to a first mobile device of the first user indicating that the first diagnostic device is presenting the first alarm.

  • Patent number: 9723446
Abstract: Site location determination using crowd sourced propagation delay and location data is provided. A propagation delay component receives a set of propagation delay measurements for communications between a mobile device and an access point. A user equipment location component receives a location of the mobile device, and a combination component combines the set of propagation delay measurements and the location into a set of location data. An access point location component determines a set of intersecting locations between the set of location data and additional sets of location data, and determines a location of the access point based on the set of intersecting locations.

  • Patent number: 9705635
Abstract: Methods, computer-readable media and apparatuses to identify UE performance and to optimize network performance are disclosed. A processor receives a reported channel quality indicator value from a user equipment, wherein the reported channel quality indicator value is used for setting an initial modulation and an initial coding rate, determines a calibrated channel quality indicator value based on historical data for the user equipment and applies the calibrated channel quality indicator value that determines a calibrated modulation and a calibrated coding rate instead of the initial modulation and the initial coding rate based on the channel quality indicator value received from the user equipment, wherein the receiving, the determining and the applying are continuously performed while the user equipment is in a radio resource control connected mode.

  • Publication number: 20170195844
Abstract: Determining levels of geographic redundancy among radios of a wireless radio network is disclosed. The level of geographic redundancy for a radio can affect the determination of location information for a user equipment (UE) on the wireless radio network. The disclosed subject matter can be employed in conjunction with timed fingerprint location (TFL) technologies to facilitate selection of radios employed in determining time values for TFL location determination. Levels of geographic redundancy can be employed to rank or order radios of a wireless radio network so as to reduce the likelihood of using geographically redundant radios in location determination. Further, rules can be selected to adjust threshold values and equations employed in determining the levels of geographic redundancy. Moreover, rules can be selected to apply boundary conditions to reduce the number of determinations formed for a set of radios of the wireless radio network.
