Abstract: Method and system are provided to facilitate transactions in a particular on-line trading platform from a third party web site. The system may be configured to associate identification information, such as a uniform resource locator (URL), with a reference to an item of merchandise on a web page provided by a third party entity. In response to a request originated from a client device of a user, the method may cause presentation of a listing of the item of merchandise maintained in the particular on-line trading platform and a visual control to facilitate commencing of a transaction process with respect to the item of merchandise in the on-line trading platform.

Abstract: A display characteristic determination machine receives a request to display seller-related content that references an item available for sale. The display characteristic determination machine identifies a display characteristic available from a web server, determines that the seller-related content is to be displayed using the display characteristic, and communicates to the web server that the seller-related content is to be displayed using the display characteristic and with primary content. The display characteristic determination machine may function as an allocation device to allocate use of the display characteristic. This functionality may be scaled, for example, to include determining use of multiple display characteristics, available from multiple web servers, by multiple instances of seller-related content requested for display by multiple sellers of multiple items.

Abstract: An intra frame predication scanning method for video coding includes steps of: providing a two-dimensional residual coefficient array of a pixel block; dividing the two-dimensional residual coefficient array into a plurality of sub-arrays; converting, in a predetermined order, residual coefficients in the respective sub-array into a one-dimensional individual-sub-array residual coefficient series; connecting the one-dimensional individual-sub-array residual coefficient series of all the sub-arrays as a one-dimensional all-sub-array residual coefficient series of the pixel block; and performing an entropy coding on the one-dimensional all-sub-array residual coefficient series. A video coding method is also provided.

In response to detecting a first specialist device, the central component initiates a connection with the specialist device. The central component accesses a list of capabilities associated with the first specialist device. The central component initiates a first task, which includes one or more specific task responsibilities, and allocates one or more specific task responsibilities between the central component and the first specialist device based at least in part on the list of capabilities associated with the first specialist device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing simplified presence for a user are described. The user has a plurality of associated communication devices registered with a communications server, and each communication device enables at least one communication service class. The server has a user data entry associating the user with each of the plurality of communication devices. To hide the details of the user-associated devices from third parties, a virtual device is defined and associated with the user. Presence information received at the server from the various devices is aggregated together to create aggregated presence information that indicates at least the service classes available from the user-associated devices based on the received presence information. A virtual device presence document is generated containing the aggregated presence information and is provided to a presence server as presence information associated with the user.

Abstract: A method and system of establishing calling preferences for a user are provided. The method includes: defining a user profile containing an association between the user and two or more communication devices, each device having an associated device type; assigning the user to at least one group; obtaining group preferences associated with one or more of the user's groups; determining user preferences for the user based on the group preferences and the device types of the communication devices associated with the user; and storing the user specific preferences in a user profile associated with the user.

Abstract: A device incorporates a touch-enabled screen configured to accept a user's interaction with the touch screen to control display of the results of online searches for information and ecommerce listings. A user's interaction with the touch screen of the device with multipoint pinch gestures facilitates navigation through large volumes of search results. Touch-enabled navigation with pinch gestures to elaborate or contract the results of a given search may present a more definitive view of those results or present a better indication of the requirement for a further search by the user. Listings of item data with elaborated or contracted details are produced through corresponding scaling processes which are in turn controlled through associated multipoint pinch gestures.

The method and system can receive and parse an e-mail received from a conference moderator, containing scheduling and participant information and schedule a conference call with minimal further user intervention. In essence, the method and system can operate as a virtual administrative assistant to identify and collect telephone contact information for each of the proposed conference call participants, using a customizable hierarchy of internal and external sources of contact information. In this manner, the conference moderator does not need know telephone contact information for each conference call participant.

Abstract: Systems and methods of generating recommendations based on transaction data are described. A first business entity may collect transaction data corresponding to a user from at least one external source. The transaction data may comprise at least one identification of an item purchased by the user, and the external source(s) may belong to a separate business entity from the first business entity and host an account of the user. A recommendation for the user may be generated based on the collected transaction data. In some embodiments, the recommendation may comprise a recommendation to buy an item or a recommendation to sell an item. The generated recommendation may also be based on transaction data corresponding to at least one other user.

Abstract: A system and method of sharing video experiences are described. A request may be received from a first device to view video content being captured by a second device. The first device may be enabled to display the video content being captured by the second device based on a determination that the first device is capturing or has captured video content. Enabling the first device to display the video content being captured by the second device may comprise streaming live video content being captured by the second device as the live video content is being captured by the second device. Enabling of the first device to display the video content captured by the second device may be further based on a determination that the first device is located within a geo-fence.

By touch-selection of a facet of the item data returned in an item listing, a user may scale a characteristic of the selected facet of item data according to an application of multipoint pinch gestures. By application of a pinch-out and a pinch-in gesture respectively, a date facet of metadata may be scaled backward and forward in time.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus supporting an electrical connection are disclosed. Systems previously equipped with wire interfaces, such as battery terminals, can be equipped with a connector assembly to significantly reduce a hazard of electrical shock to a user. The connector assembly includes a stress relief component that attenuates a force, applied to the stress relief component, to reduce its effect on the connector assembly. By attenuating the force, the connector assembly maintains a substantially fixed position relative to the battery pack component and mitigates a potential for disruption in electrical connectivity. Techniques disclosed herein benefit users of battery packs or other devices as well as manufacturers by increasing safety, reliability, and ergonomics.
