  • Patent number: 6373597
Abstract: A facsimile signal transmission system which satisfies the stipulation of the signal sending time and the stipulation of the signal time interval for enabling successful facsimile communication even if a detection delay or a sending delay occurs. In a facsimile signal transmission system for transmitting a digital command signal (DCS signal), an echo protect tone signal (EPT signal), a training signal, and a training check signal, if an IDLE message signal output from a transmission part at the end of the DCS signal is received in a reception party, a first timer operated for a first predetermined time is started. When the first predetermined time has elapsed, sending of the EPT signal to the reception facsimile terminal is started. A second timer operated for a second predetermined time is started at the same time as sending of the EPT signal is started. When the second predetermined time has elapsed, sending of the EPT signal is terminated.

  • Publication number: 20020038210
Abstract: A speech coding apparatus includes a frequency parameter generating unit that generates LSP coefficients of an input signal. When the input signal is a non-speech signal, it generates the LSP coefficients of the non-speech signal in such a manner that they approach the LSP coefficients of the speech signal. Thus, even when the input signal is the non-speech signal, its LSP coefficients are quantized by referring to the LSP quantization codebook which is specifically prepared for the speech signal. Although a conventional speech coding apparatus has a problem in that even when it transmits the non-speech signal in a good condition, a conventional speech decoding apparatus cannot always decode the non-speech signal correctly, the present speech coding apparatus can solve the problem even when the receiving side uses the conventional speech decoding apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20020015415
Abstract: A transmission apparatus is capable of transmitting a high-speed modem signal. It has at least two types of transmission schemes: one uses a clear channel that can transmit a high-speed modem signal; and the other is a conventional 32-kbit/s or 40-kbit/s ADPCM scheme implemented by a coding section 25. When an ANSam signal detector detects an ANSam signal according to the V.8 protocol from an input signal, a transmission assignment processor instructs a BC (bear channel) bit assignment section to switch the transmission scheme to the higher quality transmission scheme using the clear channel.

  • Publication number: 20010029450
Abstract: Digital circuit multiplication equipment (DCME) refers to coding bit rate information included in a pseudo-speech signal. In accordance with the coding bit rate information, the DCME selects either a coded speech signal extracted by a transmission bit rate restorer or a coded speech signal including bit rate identification information added by a coding bit rate information adding section, and supplies the selected coded speech signal to a bearer line. The DCME can solve a problem of a conventional DCME in that a mismatch can take place between the actual transmission bit rate of the coded speech signal and the transmission bit rate assigned to the bearer line when providing the variable bit rate DCME with a tandem passthrough function, and therefore the correct coding bit rate information cannot be transferred to a speech decoder, bringing about serious degradation in the speech quality.

  • Patent number: 5960077
Abstract: A counter increments a count value every given time period. An adaptive operation control unit selects channels in which adaptive operations are done from all the channels in obedience to the count value to output produced selection signals to AND circuits. Double-talk detection circuits judge the presence/absence of a double-talk state and output detection signals to the AND circuits. The AND circuits operate logical AND of the selection signals and the detection signals and output the logical AND results as control signals to filter coefficient updating circuits. The filter coefficient updating circuits update or do not update filter coefficients stored in FIR filter units according to the control signals. The FIR filter units produce echo replicas by calculating convolutions of the filter coefficients and the receive signals. Subtractors subtract the echo replicas from transmission signals to output residual signals.

  • Patent number: 5873058
Abstract: In a voice coding-and-transmission system using a differential coding, a degradation of voice quality caused by a silent period transmission network and an ATM network is prevented without improving a silent-period elimination transmission network and existing transmission networks such as a STM network. In a relay node 104, an encoder 114 codes a voice signal from a decoder 108 again for a transient period immediately after a voice is started, and a transmission node 100 and a reception node 102 are tandem-connected. The encoder 114 and a decoder 122 at a reception node 102 are given respectively same reference values of a differential processing by memories 118, 128 when the voice is started, thereby preventing an abnormal sound generation due to a mismatch of inner statuses thereof when the voice is started. During the transient period, the internal statuses of an encoder 106 at a reception node 100 and the decoder 122 are closed each other.

  • Patent number: 5533121
Abstract: An echo canceller is disclosed which is capable of disabling its echo cancelling function when other echo cancellers are connected in tandem in a communications network. A pattern is inserted by extracting bits from a receiving side pulse code modulation (PCM) signal bit stream and replacing them with a predetermined bit-pattern sequence.
