  • Publication number: 20100223852
Abstract: A window regulator assembly is described that comprises a window bracket that is in contact with the bottom edge of the window; a cable; a carrier plate that is in contact with the window bracket and both ends of the cable; a tension spring located on each end of the cable; an upper bracket assembly; a drum housing having a cable drum; a hollow conduit located between the upper bracket assembly and the drum housing; and a drive unit. The upper bracket assembly, cable drum, and conduit are capable of slideably receiving the cable, while the tension springs provide a predetermined amount of tension to the cable in order for the window regulator assembly to move the window between open and closed positions. Many of the components of the window regulator assembly may be formed from a thermoplastic material.

  • Patent number: 7673419
Abstract: The present specification provides a rear window assembly for a vehicle having a window frame, at least one fixed window panel whose perimeter edge defines a portion of an opening, a movable window panel capable of opening or closing the opening and that is allowed to slidably move past the surface of the fixed window panel, a seal member present on the perimeter surface of at least one of the window panels, and a closure track integrally formed in at least one edge of the window frame. The closure track may force the movable window panel and the fixed window panel closer together, thereby, placing the seal member under compression.

  • Patent number: 7464501
Abstract: A sliding window assembly for use with a motor vehicle such as the rear window of the cab of a pickup type truck. A guide structure mounts a sliding pane for longitudinal sliding movement generally parallel to the plane of the pane between an open position and a closed position, and a lateral thrust mechanism is provided to move the pane laterally relative to the plane of the pane into the closed position wherein the exposed face of the pane is flush with a surrounding vehicle surface.

  • Publication number: 20080244981
Abstract: A window clamp assembly for an automotive window regulator assembly. In the clamp assembly of this invention, a lower edge of the motor vehicle window features a rounded tapered bottom edge with an adjacent aperture. A window clamp is provided which forms a window engaging slot having a generally V-shaped bottom surface which cooperates with the window lower edge to properly position the window relative to the clamp. During assembly, a tab of the clamp engages with the window hole to fasten it in position. The design facilitates rapid assembly of the components by reducing the accuracy needed in the positioning of the two parts during their assembly.

  • Publication number: 20070151159
Abstract: A carrier for a window regular. The regulator includes a vertical rail defining a vertical track, a glass carrier adapted to receive a lower edge of the window glass and mounted for vertical sliding movement along the track and a cable having an upper end terminating in an enlarged head and a lower end terminating in an enlarged head, the carrier having a lower receptacle proximate the lower region of the carrier receiving the head of the upper cable end with the upper cable end extending vertically upwardly therefrom, whereby upward pulling movement on the upper cable end moves the carrier upwardly along the track, and an upper receptacle proximate an upper region of the carrier receiving the head of the lower cable end with the lower cable end extending vertically downwardly therefrom, whereby downward pulling movement on the lower cable end moves the carrier downwardly along the track.

  • Patent number: 6598345
Abstract: A window regulator mechanism for a motor vehicle door providing ready adjustability to accommodate manufacturing tolerances in the door glass guide channels receiving the side edges of the window glass or, in the case of a sashless door, to accommodate manufacturing tolerances in the seal carried by the vehicle body. Adjustability is provided by a cam member which is rotatly mounted on carrier plate of a carrier assembly and which coacts with a follower surface on a glass clip mounted on an upper edge of the carrier plate. The follower surface is provided as a cutout in a lower edge of a stabilizer portion of the glass clip whereby the stabilizer portion serves not only to preclude cocking of the glass clip relative to the carrier plate but also to provide the cam follower surface for coaction with the cam member carried by the carrier plate.

  • Patent number: 6093892
Abstract: An improved automatic length-adjusting end fitting for a cable assembly consisting of a conduit and a wire slidably positioned therein reacts to increases in the length of the wire and/or decreases in the length of the conduit by automatically lengthening the conduit to thereby take up a portion of the slack in the wire and return the cable assembly to its desired condition. The fitting includes a hollow housing and a cylindrical core disposed therein for sliding and rotating movement with respect to the housing. The conduit is connected to the end of the core and the wire extends completely through the core and housing. The outer surface of the core has three recesses, each of which forms a series of stair-step notches. Three axially aligned ridges are disposed on the interior surface of the housing engage respective notches, depending on how far the core is inserted into the housing.
