    Abstract: In a phase locked loop frequency synthesizer, the frequency of a VCO is switched by changing the division ratio of a variable ratio frequency divider in the feedback path of the loop. At the time of switching, a prepositioning voltage is applied to the VCO to realize fast frequency switching. To correct for nonlinear response of the VCO, the prepositioning voltage is adjusted according to information received from a voltage measuring circuit connected to the VCO control circuit.

    Abstract: An electric power steering control system includes an electric motor for producing an assisting torque for the vehicle steering system through a reduction gear, a steering torque sensor fitted on the steering shaft, a controller for controlling the input to the motor in accordance with the torque sensor output, a battery for supplying power to the controller, and a voltage step-up circuit connected to the battery for driving the motor at a voltage higher than the battery voltage. The controller drives the motor at a high voltage.

    Abstract: Intake and exhaust ports of an internal combustion engine possess respective turbine impellers, and an electrical rotary machine is formed on a rotary shaft connecting the impellers. Sensors are provided for sensing the loaded state of the engine at all times based on engine rpm and the amount of fuel supplied to the engine. When the engine is overloaded, the electrical rotary machine is made to operate as a motor to assist in the supercharging of the engine. When the engine load is not excessive, the rotary machine is made to operate as a generator to charge surplus energy, derived from the engine exhaust, in a storage battery.

    Abstract: An electric power steering apparatus comprises a steering shaft 34, a detector 27 for detecting an operation of the power steering apparatus, an electric motor 3 driven in response to an output of the detector 27 for generating an assisting force for a steering operation, and a reduction gear 1 including an input shaft 2 driven by the electric motor 3, an output shaft 13 connected to the steering shaft 34, and a planetary gear mechanism 36 for reducing the rotational speed of the input shaft 2 and transmitting the reduced rotational speed to the output shaft 13. The planetary gear mechanism 36 includes a sun gear 6 rotatable with the input shaft 2, a ring gear 8, planet gears 7 connected to the output shaft 13 and adapted to transmit revolving motion thereof around the sun gear 6 to the output shaft 13, and a gear case 18 for accommodating the sun gear 6, the ring gear 8, and the planet gear 7.

    Abstract: A motor/generator is mounted on the turbine shaft of a supercharger in an internal combustion engine. Whether the motor/generator should operate as a motor or a generator is determined by a signal from a flow rate sensor that detect the rate of fuel flow and a signal from a rotation sensor that detects rotation of the internal combustion engine. When the motor/generator operates as a generator, the fuel flow rate is controlled in response to an output signal indicative of electric power from the generator. When the motor/generator operates as a motor, electric power supplied thereto is controlled in response to an accumulated value of supplied electric power.

    Abstract: A manufacturing method for an electronic component connected at a lead terminal thereof to electrodes at an element so that the element is coated at the surface with an over-coat resin, which prevents the lead terminal from being unnecessarily coated with the over-coat resin, thereby improving the automatic insertion efficiency of the electronic component with respect to a printed circuit board.An intermediate portion of the lead terminal positioned at the outer peripheral edge of the element is previously applied with a repellent against the over-coat resin, the lead terminal being mounted on the element and thereafter the element being dipped into the over-coat resin, so that the over-coat resin, when coated on the element, is prevented from adhering to the portion of lead terminal applied with the repellent, thereby avoiding creation of running of the over-coat resin at the lead terminal.

    Abstract: An surface acoustic wave coupling element is used having one output electrode (11d) and at least two input electrodes (11b, 11c) disposed at different distances or at different phase positions with respect to the output electrode, the input and output electrodes being arranged on one surface. The output electrodes of the element are connected to variable gain amplifiers through a power divider, the variable gain amplifiers receiving two gain control inputs. The output sides of these amplifiers (15, 16) are respectively connected to the input electrodes of said element. The variable frequency oscillator of this construction can be made much smaller than the prior art and can be effectively used as the high frequency oscillator in VHF and UHF bands.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for controlling a motor unit including a variable-speed reversible main motor for driving a load and a subsidiary motor for driving a fan. The control apparatus comprises a temperature sensor circuit sensing the temperature of the main motor and generating a first output signal when the temperature of the main motor exceeds a first predetermined level, a second output signal when the main motor temperature exceeds a second predetermined level higher than the first predetermined level and a third output signal when the main motor temperature drops to a level lower than the first predetermined level, and a control circuit connected to the temperature sensor circuit for energizing the subsidiary motor in response to the first output signal, deenergizing the main motor in response to the second output signal and deenergizing the subsidiary motor in response to the third output signal.

    Abstract: A cooling device for an electrical rotating machine is provided. The cooling device comprises; a yoke of an electric motor, end brackets and a rocker positioned in the outer circumferential portion of a commutator and fastened through the mediary of ventilation spaces to the inner circumference of one of the aforesaid end brackets. The cooling device further comprises; a screening plate for controlling the direction of cooling air being blown and a strength thereof, which is disposed between one end of the aforesaid rocker and the yoke; and a forcibly blowing device. With this cooling device, the cooling air is introduced through ventilating spaces defined radially inwardly of the aforesaid one end bracket into an electric motor by the forcibly blowing device, thereby forcibly cooling the surface of the commutator and the peripheral portion thereof.

In response to the detection of such specific manipulation, magnetizing current is supplied to the magnetizing coil from the battery of the electric vehicle so that the permanent magnet can be automatically magnetized.
