  • Publication number: 20060179317
Abstract: An e-mail terminal device capable of carrying out a printing process, a storing process or the like of only e-mail with a signature or only e-mail with a signature of a trustable Certificate Authority (CA). When receiving e-mail, a determination is made as to whether or not the e-mail requires a signature. When the e-mail requires a signature, a determination is made as to a presence or an absence of the signature, whether or not a verification result of the signature is proper, and whether or not a CA issuing a public key used for the verification of the signature is trustable. When a signature is not attached, when the signature is improper, or when the CA is untrustable, the printing process is not executed. E-mail requesting retransmission of e-mail with a signature or e-mail signed by a secret key of a trustable CA is transmitted to a transmitter.

  • Publication number: 20060053278
Abstract: An encryption device which enables a client not having an encryption function to easily use a function of encrypted mail without carrying out a management of certification and a key and an encryption and a decryption. When an Internet facsimile machine transmits electronic mail to an encryption device, the encryption device converts the received electronic mail into encrypted mail and transmits to a mail server. When another Internet facsimile machine transmits data including a part to be encrypted and transmission destination information as a main body of mail to an encryption and decryption I/F of the encryption device, the encryption device encrypts the main body of the received mail under a prescribed encryption method and sends back to the other Internet facsimile machine. Accordingly, the other Internet facsimile machine can format encrypted data into encrypted mail and transmit to a remote Internet facsimile machine.

  • Patent number: 5978614
Abstract: An image scanner arrangement having a scanner, a document feeder scanning portion and a flat scanning bed. A single white plate is provided between the document feeder scanning portion and flat bed. Before scanning, the scanner scans the white plate to provide image data for testing. If this image data contains white pixels not less than 90%, a controller determines that a lamp of a light source of the scanner illuminates appropriately. After confirming that the light source is in a good condition, the scanning starts. The single white plate is utilized regardless of scanning being performed with the document feeder scanning portion or the flat scanning bed.

  • Patent number: 5978344
Abstract: In an optical pickup, light, emitted from a light-emitting element, is transmitted through a first beam splitter film with polarization selectivity, and a zero-order diffraction beam and two (.+-.) first order diffraction beams are produced. These beams are applied in a condensed manner to an optical disk through a condensing element, and the return light beam from the optical disk is fed to a photodetector through a second beam splitter film with polarization selectivity, thereby effecting the recording and reproduction of information, the tracking and the focusing. A diffusion angle conversion hologram is provided between the light-emitting element and the first beam splitter film, and with respect to the diffusion angle conversion hologram, the relation between the diffusion angle of the incident beam and the diffusion angle of the outgoing beam is specified.
