  • Patent number: 6970637
Abstract: An apparatus for processing information is provided, such as a digital camera having a communication function with improved performance while retaining compactness and immediate functionality. A size of data (first data) expected to be received is added to an expected size of second data to be entered (for example, an expected size of image data obtained in a predetermined photography image-quality mode), so that a resultant sum is compared to an amount of a remaining storage capacity of a memory (storage medium), and if that sum is larger than the calculated remaining storage capacity, the apparatus sends a direction (instruction) indicating that the data expected to be received should be sent (transferred) to a predetermined transmission destination. In this manner, the first data is not received, that is, the first data is sent (redirected) to a predetermined transmission destination.

  • Patent number: 6961087
Abstract: Even when a remaining amount of an image memory built in a digital camera is decreased, the photographing can be further continued while reserving a photographed image. An image which is obtained from an image input unit including image pickup means is accumulated into an image memory. When a remaining amount calculating unit detects that the remaining amount of the image memory is small, an image record discriminating unit compares it with an image size in a photograph mode at that time which is obtained from an image size table, thereby discriminating whether the continuation of the photographing can be performed or not. When the photographing is impossible, an image selecting unit selects an old image, an image in which the number of colors is small, or the like on the basis of management data regarding the photographed images in a memory managing table. The selected image is transmitted by a PHS communication by a data transmitting apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20050077481
Abstract: Petunia explants are irradiated with heavy-ion beams, and the chimeric individuals differentiated from the explants are selected (FSRP method). Then, explants are obtained from the chimeric individuals and subjected to tissue culture, followed by selection of re-differentiated chimeric individuals with stable characters (SSRP method). By these procedures, it becomes possible to create chimeric plants such as variegated petunia efficiently.

  • Publication number: 20050018784
Abstract: There is provided a communication network system which can set communication parameters which enable an operation under a maximum possible communication rate in a situation where a transmission path has cyclic noise/impedance fluctuations, without being influenced by such local noise/impedance fluctuations. A transmission/reception apparatus 100 transmits training packets for checking the state of the power line at two distinct points in time. Each time a training packet is received, a transmission/reception apparatus 101 analyzes SNR at each carrier frequency, and stores an SNR evaluation result. The transmission/reception apparatus 101 compares two SNR evaluation results which are obtained through two instances of a channel estimation algorithm, selects an SNR evaluation result which dictates a faster PHY rate, and transmits it to the transmission/reception apparatus 100. The transmission/reception apparatus 100 changes modulation/demodulation rules based on the received SNR analytical result.

  • Publication number: 20040170241
Abstract: Two or more synchronous words are arranged to a section as long as a noise cycle “t” regarding a frame. Or, one or more synchronous words are arranged such that a section not being influenced by the noises is long enough considering the noise cycle. When information that cyclical noises occur is given and/or the noise cycle can be measured, probability that the synchronous word is influenced by the noises is reduced so that reliability of frame synchronization establishment can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20040128609
Abstract: A communication device capable of correcting a burst error exceeding a correcting capability of an error correcting code by only transmitting one packet. With respect to data to be transmitted, a frame generating section 22 generates a frame for which an error detecting process, etc., is performed. A frame dividing section 23 divides the generated frame, by a predetermined number, into a plurality of divided frames. A transmission control section 24 generates a packet in which the plurality of divided frame are copied predetermined times. A transmitting section 25 sends the packet to a receiver. A receiving section 35 receives the packet transmitted from a transmitter. A reception control section 34 divides the received packet by the predetermined number. A frame reconstructing section 33 reconstructs the frame by assembling the divided frames in predetermined order. A frame processing section 32 performs an error correcting process, etc., for the reconstructed frame.

  • Patent number: 6690417
Abstract: A method for processing images comprises the steps of performing the reception of data through the net work, inputting image data obtainable in accordance with the designated input mode, managing the storage of the data received in the receiving step and the image data inputted in the input step to the memory, and intervening between the operations of the reception step and the input step in accordance with the storage management in the controlling step. With the method thus structured, the compression ratio of the input image is heightened by changing the current photographing mode if the added value of the estimated reception data through communicating means and the data side of photographed image predetermined by the current photographing mode should exceed the remainders of memory in the storage, hence making it possible to implement the compatibility of immediacy between the image input and the communication by dealing with any sudden reception during photographing.
