  • Patent number: 6958099
Abstract: A steel material and a steel pipe made by using the same are provided which are to be used in severe oil well environments. Such a highly tough oil well steel pipe can be produced by rolling the base material, quenching the rolling product from the austenite region and tempering the same so that the relationship between the content of Mo [Mo] in the carbides precipitated at austenite grain boundaries and the austenite grain size (according to ASTM E 112) can be defined by the formula (a) given below. In this manner, steel pipes suited for use even under oil well environments becoming more and more severe can be produced while satisfying the requirements that the cost should be rationalized, the productivity improved and energy saved.

  • Patent number: 6947367
Abstract: A low-profile optical disk device which performs recording and reproducing using a plurality of laser light sources with different wavelengths, without thug need for additional components. It is used as a DVD-Ram, CD-R or the like. It comprises a plurality of neighboring laser light sources with different wavelengths: a beam-shaping prism for expanding the width of laser beams in a direction in which the plural laser light sources are arranged; and a focus lens which forms an optical spot on an optical disk, where laser light sources with longer wavelengths are positioned closer to an extension line of a refracted beam created by the beam-shaping prism. The above arrangement enables correction of optical spot coma aberrations caused by a laser light source positioned out of the optical axis of the focus lens, thereby realizing a low-profile optical disk device with high optical performance.

  • Patent number: 6785203
Abstract: An objective lens converges a shorter wavelength laser beam on a DVD having a protective layer, which is 0.6 mm thick, and a longer wavelength laser beam on a CD having a protective layer, which is 1.2 mm thick. A common region is defined on the objective lens. The common region provides a numerical aperture appropriate for converging the longer wavelength laser beam on the CD. Coma of the objective lens in the first region is compensated better in a case where the longer wavelength laser beam is converged on the CD than a case where the shorter wavelength laser beam is converged on the DVD.
