  • Publication number: 20080255489
Abstract: A knee-ankle-foot orthosis in accordance with the present invention can smoothly shift from the stance phase to the swing phase thereof. Namely, the knee-ankle-foot orthosis capable of securely locking a patient's knee in a desired angular position thereof with a load of his body weight, and immediately shifting his knee to the unlocked state without requiring any extra motion when the load disappears is provided. As shown in FIG. 1, the speed of the rotation of a knee axis gear 23 adapted to transmit the rotation of a knee axis 21 is increased by eight times with a speed increasing gear train 25, and is transmitted to a brake drum 41. A wire 31 wound around the brake drum 41 is connected to first and second levers 27 and 28 as load detecting members. When a foot holding portion 18 contacts the ground and the first lever 27 is stepped down, the wire 31 is pulled downwardly with a load of his body weight, whereby brakes are applied.

  • Patent number: 6796768
Abstract: A blower with improved P-Q characteristic provides a reduction in noise by sucking air inside through slits provided in an annular wall, wherein the blade thickness near a blade end s is progressively reduced toward the front end, and the location F of the maximum thickness gradually moves back toward a blade trailing edge side u2 so as to make the blade advance angle near the front end larger than in other locations. In addition, the width of a slit is made wider in sections near a spacer than in other sections. Alternatively, notches are provided in the outer perimeter of annular plates near the spacers so as to reduce the radial length of the annular plates. This arrangement improves the P-Q characteristic and reduce noise.

  • Patent number: 6254342
Abstract: Improvement is made to the shape of blades of a fan assembly for sucking air into an annular wall through slits in the wall, in order to increase the aerodynamic performance and energy efficiency. In the fan assembly for sucking air in through slits provided in an annular wall (2), the blade tips of an axial fan (21) are bent in the rotating direction to smoothly take in air flowing in through the slits. The axial fan is formed so that the blades except the tips thereof are in a shape of a radial or a rearward tilting blade. The angle formed by the blade forward tilting angle near the blade tip of the axial fan and the slit angle is between −5 and 15°, and the blade tip is bent in the wind blowout direction. This configuration improves the P-Q characteristic, reduces noise and improves energy efficiency.

  • Patent number: 6119346
Abstract: A bearing comprising different materials having oil-filled pores in them has a relief space in the middle section which is not provided by machining. The materials are different, have different characteristics, and bear different portions of load the bearing supports, resulting in longer bearing life and reduced noise. Materials 1 and 2 are separately formed and sintered in such a way that material 1 has smaller pores in it and can support higher load, material 2 has larger pores in it and can support lower load, and an end portion of each material is stepped so that material 1 can be partially inserted into material 2 and a relief space is provided on the inner periphery of material 1. The materials 1 and 2 are then joined together into one piece, and the one piece is placed in a sizing die and pressed. The sized one piece is a strong one-piece bearing having an accurate inside diameter and good concentric alignment.

  • Patent number: 6120188
Abstract: An inexpensive bearing unit having a high rotational accuracy and a high reliability is provided for use in information and video-acoustic equipments. In the case of an oil-impregnated sintered bearing (1) in which an inner surface (2) sliding together with a shaft is formed on the bearing body (1) made of a porous sintered alloy, a plurality of concavities (4) are transferred to a tapered portion of the bearing inner surface (2) by forming a part or the whole of the inner surface (2) into a tapered shape or a tapered-like shape at the time of molding a green compact of the sintered alloy and press-fitting a pin (5) formed with protrusions (6) in the subsequent process and moreover, concavities (7) in which the shaft sliding surface is closed are formed by sizing the tapered portion straight at the time of sizing. Because the concavities (7) making a superior dynamic-pressure effect can be formed in a simple process, it is possible to provide an inexpensive bearing unit having a high rotational accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5818302
Abstract: A voltage-controlled oscillator generates an oscillation signal having a frequency corresponding to a control signal. A phase comparator detects a phase difference between a reference signal and a frequency-divided signal derived from the oscillation signal and generates a phase difference signal. A control circuit, which comprises an A/D converter, a high-speed processor, and a D/A converter, generates a control voltage so as to reduce a time-dependent change in the phase difference signal to synchronize the oscillation signal with the reference signal. When the synchronization of the oscillation signal with the reference signal is completed, the control circuit secures a control voltage at the time time-dependent change in the phase difference signal becomes equal to or smaller than a phase difference stored in a flash ROM.

  • Patent number: 5707205
Abstract: An air moving device for improving P-Q characteristics and noise by suppressing the production of vortices. An annular wall spaced from blade tips, is formed of a plurality of annular plates and spacers with a slit defined between adjacent annular plates. The width of each slit is set to satisfy the formula W.ltoreq.(.nu..multidot.R.sub.ec /v) where .nu. is the kinematic viscosity of air, v is the peripheral speed of the blade tips, W is the width of the slits and R.sub.ec is the critical Reynold's number. Thus, as a fan is rotated, air is drawn in a laminar flow through the slits to the inner periphery of the annular wall. Thereby, it is possible to suppress the separation of air flow on the suction side of blade surfaces and the production of vortices, thus improving the air moving state.

  • Patent number: 5519710
Abstract: In a TDMA cellular communication network, one of the cell sites is a reference station for establishing a time reference in response to a timing signal from a mobile switching office, and each of the other cell sites is a subordinate station. Each subordinate station establishes a time slot in response to the timing signal from the mobile switching system and receives a signal from a mobile station located in the area of the reference station for detecting a time lapse between the time slot and the signal from the mobile station. A delay time is introduced to the time slot according to the time lapse so that the time slot is synchronized to the time reference of the reference station. In a second embodiment, each subordinate station transmits a signal indicative of the detected time lapse to the mobile switching system, where a delay time value is derived from those signals received from a chain of subordinate stations and returned to each subordinate station for performing the time slot adjustment.

  • Patent number: 5140589
Abstract: In a communications system, a base station has a memory for storing interval control values representative of time-varying traffic pattern of the communications system. A time-keeping circuit recalls a stored interval control value from the memory according to different time of day and a battery-saving command signal is sent from the base station at variable intervals as a function of the value recalled from the memory. Power supplies of a remote station are interrupted for a constant brief interval in response to the battery-saving signal, so that the remote station is powered for a shorter interval during a light traffic period and for a longer interval during a heavy traffic period. In a preferred embodiment, traffic data is automatically collected from the communications system and the stored interval control values are updated according to the collected traffic data.
