  • Publication number: 20010035932
Abstract: A bright, and contrasty reflective display can be performed without using polarizer films, and display switching can be performed fast. A ferroelectric liquid crystal is sandwiched between substrates, and electrodes are formed face to face with each other in a direction parallel to the substrates. The ferroelectric liquid crystal, when no electric field is applied to it, goes into a planer state in which a helical axis becomes perpendicular to or almost perpendicular to the substrates, selectively reflecting light of specific wavelengths in a visible region. A driving circuit applies an electric field between the electrodes in a direction perpendicular to or almost perpendicular to the helical axis of the ferroelectric liquid crystal in the planer state.

  • Patent number: 6308013
Abstract: A converter unit for a lens unit of a camera, which is able to match optical axes of a plurality of kinds of converter lenses with different magnifications, which are revolvably mounted on a rod, with an optical axis of the lens unit properly. One of the converter lenses is revolvably mounted on the rod by two bearings through a connecting member. One of the bearings is attached on an eccentric external circumference of a collar member attached on the rod. The rotation of the collar member adjusts an eccentric direction of the collar member and the direction of an optical axis of the converter lens.

  • Patent number: 6256594
Abstract: Only snapshot data necessary for monitoring faults are collected from machine such as vehicles, allowing faults to be more accurately monitored, and the amount of data and the memory storage volume at a monitoring station to be reduced. The values of a plurality of (A), (B), (C), and (D) operating parameters (engine rotational speed, lever operating position, vehicle speed, and tractive force) which change during the operation of the machine are sequentially detected for each machine. The fault detection history data are thus updated every time a fault (drop in engine oil pressure, overheating) is detected during the operation of the machine.

  • Patent number: 6230107
Abstract: Correction for compensating for errors caused by the pitching movement of a vehicle is executed with high accuracy at low cost. The ground speed of the vehicle sensed by a Doppler sensor is corrected with angular velocities with respect to the center of gravity of the vehicle. In this correction, the center of rotation of the vehicle and the rotation of the Doppler sensor itself during the pitching movement of the vehicle are taken into account.

  • Patent number: 6181999
Abstract: A dozing system for a bulldozer capable of providing high operational efficiency in dozing operation and a smooth excavation face. If it is determined when operation is performed in an automatic digging mode that the load exerted on the blade is stable, a target position for the cutting edge relative to the ground is corrected to the actual position of the cutting edge at that time. According to the ratio of the amount of excavated soil loaded on the front surface of the blade to the loading capacity of the blade front surface and/or the stability of the load exerted on the blade, a switching is performed between a weight characteristic for the operation amount of the load control and a weight characteristic for the operation amount of the smoothing control.

  • Patent number: 6141629
Abstract: Maintenance due times of components of a machine are determined according to the status of user-performed in-house maintenance and according to the occurrence of abnormalities during machine operation. A subtraction point (20 points) associated with an abnormality (overheating) detected during machine operation is subtracted from the score (80 points) of a corresponding component (engine) in the machine. An addition point (50 points) associated with the type of maintenance (overhaul performed by in-house maintenance) indicated in maintenance information is added to the score (80 points). Thus, at the time where the value resulting from subtractions from and additions to the score for that component (engine) reaches a prescribed value (10 points) indicating maintenance due time, it is determined that the maintenance due time for that component (engine) has been reached.

  • Patent number: 6136142
Abstract: A film applying apparatus is provided with preparatory bonding rolls, laminating rolls, a laminated film wound out from a film roll and a substrate conveyed by a substrate conveying device. The laminated film passes between these rolls and pressure bonding is performed. The diameter of the preparatory bonding rolls is made smaller than the diameter of the laminating rolls. The range of the elastically deformed area at the roll surface where the grasping of the substrate and the laminated film by the preparatory bonding rolls is begun, is made small, thereby limiting the range and reducing the generated amount of air holding or the like.

  • Patent number: 6129158
Abstract: An extensive torsional force exerted on a vehicle body frame due to an operation of blade lift cylinders can be avoided. Determination is made to identify an occurrence condition which causes a torsional force on a vehicle body frame due to an operation of the blade lift cylinders 9. If a condition which causes a torsional force is identified, pressure oil supplied to the blade lift cylinders 9 through a lift control valve 26 is interrupted, thereby stopping the operation of the blade lift cylinders 9. Alternatively, the operation speed of the blade lift cylinders 9 may be reduced by limiting the flow rate of pressure oil supplied to the blade lift cylinders 9.

  • Patent number: 6035241
Abstract: A control device and its method by which interference between a blade (10) of a bulldozer and a vehicle body can be prevented even when a pitch back angle of the blade (10) is made large and a tilt speed is increased to greatly change a tilt angle. Therefore, the device comprises left and right detecting means (20a, 20b, 23a, 23b) for detecting an amount of tilt of the blade (10), left and right tilt limiting valves (37, 38) connected to operating units (35a, 35b) of first and second directional control valves (35, 36), and a controller (50) outputting a command to the left and right tilt limiting valves (37, 38) so as to stop a tilting action of the blade (10) when a difference between amounts of tilt detected by the left and right detecting means (20a, 20b, 23a, 23b) reaches a predetermined limit value.

  • Patent number: 6035249
Abstract: An improved accuracy is ensured for the calculation of the travel distance of a bulldozer by obtaining the accurate vehicle speed and travel direction of the bulldozer. To this end, arrangement is made such that a check is made to determine whether actual tractive force F exerted on the blade exceeds a predetermined shoe slip threshold value F.sub.0 ; switching between vehicle speed detectors (between a Doppler sensor and Sprocket rotating speed detector) is made according to the determination so that suitable one of the vehicle speed detectors detects the vehicle speed of the bulldozer; and the vehicle speed detected by the selected vehicle speed detector is integrated, whereby the travel distance of the bulldozer is calculated.

  • Patent number: 6032087
Abstract: A bowthruster is operated by a control unit with wind direction based on a detection signal from vane-anemometer. A bow in a hull attitude is slightly adjusted so as to direct a bow of the hull to windward. At the same time, a propulsion unit is operated by control unit in accordance with wind strength based on a detection signal from vane-anemometer. A hull position is slightly adjusted such that the hull is moved based on a distance carried away by wind. Rocking of the hull is reduced by always directing the bow to windward and also the hull is stayed at a constant point located directly over shoal of fish or gathering place for fish so as to enable the pleasant fishing. Accordingly, because of good control response and fine ship position adjustment, the hull is positioned quickly in a fishery and then maintained at a predetermined point in the fishery.
