  • Publication number: 20110050758
Abstract: In a display system, sums of differences between two consecutive frames are calculated according to differences, which are able to indicate a degree of difference between frames, such as pixel differences or luminance differences. A motion proportion is calculated according to various values of sums of differences of different blocks between frames, so that the degree of difference between the two consecutive frames may be indicated more concretely. At last, according to settings of a lookup table, different motion proportions may respectively correspond to different frame rates and different displaying states for displaying a frame under different requirements, so that the aim of saving power consumption without reducing display quality of frames is fulfilled.

  • Publication number: 20100277463
Abstract: A time controller with power-saving function is utilized for selecting to drive a display with progressive or interlace scan method based on if two continuous frames are dynamic. The time controller comprises an interlace scan control module, a progressive scan control module, a motion detecting circuit, a scan selecting circuit, and a data selecting circuit. The interlace scan and the progressive scan control modules are utilized for generating control signals of interlace scan and progressive scan according to a video signal, respectively. The motion detecting circuit select the control signals of interlace scan or progressive scan based on if the two continuous frames are dynamic, so as to drive the display. • Publication number: 20100265280
Abstract: A driving circuit and a gray insertion method of a liquid crystal display (LCD) are described. In the gray insertion method, whether a dynamic frame or a static frame display by the LCD is determined. When the LCD displays the dynamic frame, a gray insertion level of a frame of the display and a duty cycle of a pulse width module (PWM) signal are increased synchronously, wherein the PWM signal drives a back light module of the display. When the LCD displays the static frame, the gray insertion level of a frame of the display and the duty cycle of the PWM signal are decreased synchronously. As a result, a motion blur on LCD is reduced and luminance of a display frame is maintained.
