  • Patent number: 7812831
Abstract: A lenticular lens is provided in front of a liquid crystal panel composed of a plurality of pixels. In this case, the lenticular lens is arranged so that one cylindrical lens corresponds to two pixels adjacent to each other. Then, light rays outgoing from two pixels are refracted by this one cylindrical lens and intersect with each other at a point positioned on the surface of a tablet, and then reach the right eye and the left eye of a user, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7777834
Abstract: In a display device, white LEDs and bluish white LEDs are arranged in alternating fashion on the light-incident surface side of a light-guide plate. On the light-exit side of the light-guide plate is disposed a transparent/scattering switching element switchable between a state of scattering incident light, and a state of transmitting light unchanged without scattering. During a narrow-angle display, only the white LEDs are lit, and the transparent/scattering switching element is placed in the transparent state, while during a wide-angle display, both the white LEDs and the bluish white LEDs are lit, and the transparent/scattering switching element is placed in the scattering state.

  • Patent number: 7678454
Abstract: In a formation method for forming a fine structure in a workpiece (30) containing an etching control component, using an isotropic etching process, a mask (32, 34) having an opening (36) is applied to the workpiece, and the workpiece is etched with an etching solution (38) to thereby form a recess (40), corresponding to a shape of the opening, in a surface of the workpiece. The etching of the workpiece is stopped due to the etching control component eluted out of the workpiece in the etching solution within the recess during the isotropic etching process.

  • Publication number: 20090257119
Abstract: A translucent liquid crystal display panel (2) includes pixel pairs as display units each formed by a left-eye pixel (4L) and a right-eye pixel (4R) and arranged in a matrix shape. A through hole (4Ld) arranged in a color layer (4Lc) of a color filter has a slit shape whose longitudinal direction is identical to the orientation direction of a cylindrical lens (3a) constituting a lenticular lens (3). Similarly, a through hole (4Rd) arranged in a color layer (4Rc) of a color filter has a slit shape whose longitudinal direction is identical to the orientation direction of the cylindrical lens (3a) constituting the lenticular lens (3). This suppresses the phenomenon that a hue is changed by a field-of-view angle and/or an external light condition on the translucent display panel capable of displaying an image directed to a plurality of viewpoints.

  • Patent number: 7534026
Abstract: In a display device equipped with a light source device, a second light-guide member is provided to the back surface of a first light-guide member that has an emitted light control sheet provided to the front surface thereof. The emitted light control sheet is composed of a flat plate portion and protrusions. A first light source mounted to a side surface of the first light-guide member, and a second light source mounted to a side surface of a second light-guide member are switched and turned on. The emitted light control sheet has light-condensing effects when the first light source is on, and has diffusing effects when the second light source is turned on. The angle range of illuminating light can thereby be switched.

  • Publication number: 20080278806
Abstract: In a display panel, a plurality of pixel sections are arranged in the form of a matrix. Each of the pixel sections includes a pixel for displaying an image for the left eye and a pixel for displaying an image for the right eye. Lenticular lens having repeated convex surfaces is disposed in front of the display panel to deflect the light emitted from each pixel in the horizontal direction from the pixel for displaying the image for the left eye to the pixel for displaying the image for the right eye in each pixel section. Reflection plate reflects the exterior light toward the display panel and has surface projections on the surface. In this case, the focal distance f of the lens is different from the distance H between the surface of the reflection plate and the apex of the lens.
