  • Patent number: 6840045
Abstract: A first exhaust turbo rotary machine is able to assist turbo supercharging by operating as a motor on power generated in a second rotary machine connected to a power axis of an engine. Also, when exhaust energy is large, the first turbo rotary machine operates as a generator so as to make the second rotary machine connected to the engine motive power axis operate electrically, thereby making it possible to add exhaust energy to the engine motive power axis. Consequently, that which results is a compound engine dynamo-electric machine that improves total efficiency of the engine by adding exhaust energy, which is otherwise discarded, to the engine motive power axis. This arrangement increases engine torque in a speed region where exhaust pressure is low by utilizing part of the engine's motive power as a supercharging driving force.

  • Patent number: 6832510
Abstract: A rotational speed sensor and a first F/V converter cooperatively obtain a voltage signal representing a rotational speed of an engine. A second F/V converter obtains a voltage signal representing a rotational speed of a generator-motor device. A rotational speed difference detector produces a difference between two voltage signals. When the difference exceeds a predetermined value, a voltage comparator produces a high-level signal to activate a warning circuit.

  • Patent number: 6781332
Abstract: An on-vehicle rotary electric apparatus, such as an on-vehicle generator, is provided. The apparatus comprises a stator having multi-phase windings, a rotor driven to rotate by either an on-vehicle motor or the running drive shaft of a vehicle, and a driving member for driving the field winding. The rotor has a field winding producing a magnetic field. The driving member drives the field winding by supplying the exciting current thereto and changing the exciting current so that the magnetic field rotates differently in a rotation speed from the rotor. Specifically, the driving member comprises a short-circuit winding wound around part of magnetic poles of the rotor and a current-supply unit for supplying, as the exciting current, a single-phase alternating current to the field winding. The short-circuit winding produces a magnetic field delayed in phase by 90 degrees compared to the magnetic field produced by the rotor.

  • Patent number: 6724115
Abstract: An AC motor-generator includes a rotor made up of a first inductor core and a second inductor core arrayed in an axial direction of a rotary shaft. A plurality of permanent magnets are arrayed at an interval of 2&pgr; in electrical angle of an armature away from each other in the periphery of each of the first and second inductor cores. Each permanent magnet is magnetized in a radius direction of the first and second inductor cores so as to be opposed to a magnetomotive force produced by a field winding, thereby resulting in quick disappearance of the magnetic flux of the field upon disappearance of the magnetomotive force from the field winding.

  • Patent number: 6707184
Abstract: A vehicle AC generator for charging a battery includes a rotor having a permanent magnet, a stator having an armature winding, a rectifier and a short-circuit unit. The short-circuit unit intermittently short-circuits the armature winding. The armature winding is set to generates a no-load voltage that is lower than a terminal voltage of the battery when the armature winding is not connected to loads. The short-circuit unit intermittently short-circuits the armature winding to generates a fly back voltage that is higher than the terminal voltage of the battery when the armature winding is connected to the loads. Therefore, the output voltage of the permanent magnet type generator can be regulated without significant energy loss.

  • Patent number: 6700277
Abstract: A rotor of a vehicle AC generator is comprised of a rotor core and a field coil. The rotor core is comprised of a boss portion and a plurality of claw-pole portions bending to respectively extend in axial directions from outer circumferences of the boss portion to interleave with each other to form a zigzag space between the claw-pole portions. The field coil comprises a main coil portion disposed on the boss portion, a sub-coil portion disposed between the main coil and the claw-pole portions and a flywheel diode connected in parallel with the main coil. When the field current is cut off, current circulating through the main coil is increased because the energy accumulated in the sub-coil is discharged.

  • Publication number: 20030178955
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to improve, without greatly raising a production cost, both a starting-up characteristics during motor operation and power generation characteristics during dynamo operation. The AC dynamotor of the present invention comprises: a rotor with field magnet poles; an armature with three-phase windings provided in slots of the armature iron core; and AC/DC power converter. The induced electromotive voltages during the dynamo operation in the three-phase windings are rectified and outputted by the AC/DC power converter. The DC voltage applied from outside to the AC/DC power converter is converted into AC voltage and applied to the three-phase windings. A two-phase excitation at a lower rotation range including a starting-up timing during the motor operation is executed by a control of a vector control gate controller. On the other hand, a three-phase excitation is executed during the dynamo operation.

  • Publication number: 20030127931
Abstract: An electric machine selectively operates as a generator mode or a motor mode. The electric machine includes a stator core, a multi-phase armature winding, a field coil, a moving core having a plurality of salient poles so as to move relative to the stator core to cross the magnetic field. Field current is supplied to the field coil differently according to operation mode. A portion of the armature winding is short-circuited to form an additional magnetic field that has a phase different from the magnetic field of the field coil. Therefore, the rotary core moves relative to the stator core when the operation mode is in the motor mode.
