  • Publication number: 20030102756
Abstract: An AC motor-generator includes a rotor made up of a first inductor core and a second inductor core arrayed in an axial direction of a rotary shaft. A plurality of permanent magnets are arrayed at an interval of 2&pgr; in electrical angle of an armature away from each other in the periphery of each of the first and second inductor cores. Each permanent magnet is magnetized in a radius direction of the first and second inductor cores so as to be opposed to a magnetomotive force produced by a field winding, thereby resulting in quick disappearance of the magnetic flux of the field upon disappearance of the magnetomotive force from the field winding.

  • Patent number: 6566845
Abstract: An alternator for use in an automotive vehicle includes a circuit for detecting initiation of rotation of an engine. Upon detecting the initiation of rotation, excitation current supply to a field winding is started, and thereafter an alternator output is controlled by controlling the excitation current. A resistor is connected to one phase winding of an armature to obtain a voltage indicating initiation of rotation during a period in which no excitation current is supplied to the field winding, and a capacitor is connected to another phase winding to raise the indicating voltage level. Since the indicating voltage induced by a small amount of residual magnetism is increased to a sufficient level by the capacitor, the initiation of rotation can be accurately detected.

  • Publication number: 20030080643
Abstract: A brushless rotating electric machine has an armature with a polyphase winding on an armature core, a field core wound with a field winding, a first exciting means which provides flux variation to the field core and a second exciting means which supplies direct current to the field winding by utilizing the flux variation provided as an exciting source to the field core by the first exciting means. The machine may also provide a structure so that the first exciting means is an excitation winding wound on the armature core to supply direct current, and the second exciting means has an induction winding provided on the field core and a rectifier connected to the induction winding. Additionally, the electric machine can be constructed so that the induction winding serves also as the field winding and short-circuits the field winding through the rectifier.

  • Publication number: 20030076000
Abstract: A rotary electric machine for a vehicle has a rotor with a rotor shaft, a pair of rotor cores, a field winding and an annular core made of a stack of core sheets. • Publication number: 20030057782
Abstract: An on-vehicle AC generator-motor apparatus is equipped with a rotor having field poles, an armature, and an AC-DC power converter. The armature is provided with an armature core disposed to face the rotor and three-phase windings wound in slots formed in the armature core. The AC-DC power converter is electrically connected to both of the three-phase windings and a battery of a vehicle. The AC generator-motor apparatus is operated as a motor in cases where an output voltage produced by making the rectifiers rectify an electromotive force generated by the multi-phase windings is higher than a terminal voltage of the battery. The number of slots is set to two per phase at the armature correspondingly to each pole of the field poles. Heat generation from the field poles can be reduced to prevent magnetomotive forces at the field poles from being weakened.

  • Publication number: 20020163274
Abstract: A rotor of a vehicle AC generator is comprised of a rotor core and a field coil. The rotor core is comprised of a boss portion and a plurality of claw-pole portions bending to respectively extend in axial directions from outer circumferences of the boss portion to interleave with each other to form a zigzag space between the claw-pole portions. The field coil comprises a main coil portion disposed on the boss portion, a sub-coil portion disposed between the main coil and the claw-pole portions and a flywheel diode connected in parallel with the main coil. • Publication number: 20020047353
Abstract: A vehicle AC generator for charging a battery includes a rotor having a permanent magnet, a stator having an armature winding, a rectifier and a short-circuit unit. The short-circuit unit intermittently short-circuits the armature winding. The armature winding is set to generates a no-load voltage that is lower than a terminal voltage of the battery when the armature winding is not connected to loads. The short-circuit unit intermittently short-circuits the armature winding to generates a fly back voltage that is higher than the terminal voltage of the battery when the armature winding is connected to the loads. Therefore, the output voltage of the permanent magnet type generator can be regulated without significant energy loss.
