Abstract: An image forming apparatus has a receiving section that receives data regarding an image transmitted through a communication network, a storage section that stores the received data which is received by the receiving section, a converting section that reads out the received data stored in the storage section and performs a converting process of converting the received data to image data, and an image forming section that forms an image on a recording medium based on the image data which is converted by the converting section, a determining section that determines whether or not an anomaly occurs in the converting process of the converting section, and a controlling section that controls the converting section to terminate the converting process determined by the determining section that an anomaly occurs, and to perform the converting process of subsequent data if the receiving section receives the subsequent data.

Abstract: There is provided a multi-function device which is provided with a display unit on which information regarding at least one of the plurality of typed of functions is displayed, and a display controller that controls the display unit to display the information regarding the at least one of the plurality of types of functions on the display unit. The display controller changes ordering of priority used to determine which type of information of a plurality of types of information respectively related to the plurality of types of functions should be displayed on the display unit in accordance with user operation.

Abstract: An information processing device that is capable of concurrently processing tasks of a plurality of jobs using time sharing. The plurality of jobs includes a first job and a second job wherein a conflict relating to a resource exists between the first and second jobs. The information processing device includes a job determination unit that determines when the first job is to be executed; a data processing unit that, when the job determination unit determines that the first job is to be executed, performs data processes to indicate that the resource is presently being used.

Abstract: A double-sided record apparatus for forming images on both sides of a recording medium. The double-sided record apparatus includes: a print head that moves relatively to the record medium and ejects ink onto a face of the record medium; a counting unit configured to count the number of ejected ink droplets to a predetermined area on the record medium from the print head; a comparison unit configured to compare the number of ejected ink droplets counted by the counting unit with a predetermined value; and a determination unit configured to determine whether double-sided record of the record medium is enabled based on a comparison result of the comparison unit.

Abstract: A facsimile machine including a first facsimile-data transmitter including a first connector connectable to an external computer via a first communication line, and a second connector connectable to a second facsimile-data transmitter via a second communication line, the first facsimile-data transmitter transmitting, to the external computer via the first communication line, facsimile data transmitted from the second facsimile-data transmitter via the second communication line, the machine also including a facsimile-data receiver, and a control device which controls the first facsimile-data transmitter not to transmit the facsimile data to the external computer, and controls the facsimile-data receiver to receive the facsimile data, in place of the external computer.

Abstract: A multi-function device connected to a computer includes a printer for printing on a recording paper, a modem for making facsimile communication, an interface for receiving printing data from the computer, a memory commonly used for the printer and the modem, and a controller for controlling the printer and the modem. The controller determines a capacity remainder of the memory. Further, the controller slows down a speed of receiving printing data from the computer upon determination that the capacity remainder of the memory is below a predetermined level while both of the printer and the modem are in operation.

Abstract: A transmission device includes: a first transmission unit that transmits data between the transmission device and an information processing device; a second transmission unit that receives data from an external transmission terminal; a determination unit that determines whether the information processing device is executing a data transmission processing program for controlling reception processes of the second transmission unit; and a control unit that, when the second transmission unit is to receive data from the external transmission terminal but not when the determination unit determines that the information processing device is not executing the data transmission processing program controls the first transmission unit to transmit to the information processing device, a predetermined control signal indicating that the second transmission unit is to receive data.

Abstract: Facsimile log information pertaining to the transmission and reception of image data is stored in a RAM 9. Telephone log information pertaining to the transmission and reception of voice data is also stored in the RAM 9. Thus stored facsimile log information and the telephone log information are printed out on a management report in a discriminatable manner. By viewing the management report, the user of the facsimile machine can manage not only facsimile communication but also telephone communication performed by the facsimile machine.

Abstract: A facsimile machine including an image retrieval unit for retrieving image data from an image of a document; a retrieval buffer memory for temporarily storing the image data retrieved by the image retrieval unit; an encoder for producing encoded data by encoding the image data stored in the retrieval buffer memory; a memory for storing the encoded data when the encoded data is not immediately transmitted after being encoded by the encoder; a transmission buffer for temporarily storing the encoded data before transmission of a facsimile transmission; and a buffer memory usage switching unit for switching use of the retrieval buffer memory and the transmission buffer so that the transmission buffer memory is used as a portion of the retrieval buffer memory when the encoder processes the image data for storage as encoded data in the memory.

The terminal device is capable of receiving a predetermined signal representing a predetermined data which is inserted during a silent period between intermittent ringing signals. The terminal device includes a ringing signal detecting circuit and a signal receiving circuit. The signal receiving circuit is commenced to be ready to receive the predetermined signal upon detection of the ringing signal by the ringing signal detecting circuit.

Abstract: In a versatile telephone unit subjected to a caller's telephone number reception service wherein at least a caller's telephone number is transmitted to a telephone unit prom a switchboard via a telephone line, the telephone unit has a caller's telephone number displaying feature allowing the user to know who telephoned while the user is absent or away from the telephone. When a call signal from a remote telephone is detected a predetermined number of times, the caller's telephone number transmitted with the call signal from the switchboard is stored in a memory. When the telephone is in an automatic answering mode, the caller's telephone number is stored in the memory along with incoming message. The caller's telephone number stored in the memory can be displayed on a display while reproducing the incoming message if any.

The voice/image memory is so designed to store voice digital data and image digital data. By manipulation of a record key and a play key which are provided on an operation panel and serve as an erase key and a cursor key, erasure of the voice digital data, erasure of the image digital data and erasure of both of the voice and image digital data can be selectively realized.

Abstract: A data storage device is designed so that voice digital data and image digital data are stored into a voice/image memory thereof. The type of digital data to be stored into the voice/image memory is indicated by manipulating a record key or a play key, and a set key. Through this operation, only digital data of the type is indicated is stored into the voice/image memory.
