  • Patent number: 5829701
Abstract: In a double-bearing type fishing reel, a front finger-placing section (50) is provided between the side boards (2a, 2b) of the reel body (1) above the spool (3) in such a manner that, when an angler grips the reel body (1), the thick part of the end portion of the thumb abuts against the front finger-placing section. A rear finger-placing section (55) is provided between the side boards (2a, 2b) of the reel body (1) behind the spool (3) in such a manner that the base of the thumb abuts against the rear finger-placing section (55). The double-bearing type fishing reel is exhibits an improved reel gripping characteristic.

  • Patent number: 5743479
Abstract: A dual bearing type reel formed so that a spool (16), which is supported for rotation between left and right side plates (12, 13) of the reel body, can be removed by removing the side plate that is opposite the handle side of the reel. The spool is removed from the frame (10) of the reel body by passing the spool through a hole in the frame. The profile of the side plate opposite the handle coincides with that of the frame, except for at the front portion of the reel body. The periphery of the frame in the front portion extends farther in the forward direction. The dual bearing type reel provides a good feel of gripping. It also is compact, protects its side plate from frontal impacts, and has a configuration preventing dirt from entering between the frame and the side plate, so that the facility of removal and attachment of the side plate is maintained.

  • Patent number: 5741584
Abstract: A cast coated paper for ink jet recording is prepared by a process including the steps of: forming on a base paper an undercoating layer comprising alumina having a bulk density of at most 0.2 g/cm.sup.3 and an adhesive, applying onto the undercoating layer an overcoating liquid comprising a resin to form a wet overcoating layer, and pressing the wet overcoating layer against a heated drum having a mirror-finished surface to dry the overcoating layer, thereby forming a cast-coating layer. The resultant cast coated paper shows not only good gloss and ink jet recording performances (inclusive of ink absorptivity and recorded image density), but also good weather-fastness of recorded images.

  • Patent number: 5690290
Abstract: A fishing reel which prevents fingers against damage even if they accidentally touch a loosening preventive member (9) during the winding operation of a handle (5), prevents a bait, dust and the like from sticking to the loosening preventive member as much as possible, and prevents a fishline from getting twined around the loosening preventive member (9). The handle (5) is threadedly fixed to the end portion of a drive shaft (4) by a threaded member (35), and the loosening preventive member (9) for preventing the threaded member 35 from loosening is fixed to the handle (5). The surface of the loosening preventive member (9), which is to be mounted to the upper surface (5a) of the handle (5), extending from the peripheral edge portion of the member (9) to the central portion thereof is formed in a smooth surface (9a).

  • Patent number: 5670242
Abstract: A cast coated paper for ink jet recording is constituted to include, in lamination: a base paper, an undercoating layer comprising a pigment and an adhesive, and a cast-coating layer comprising a polymer having a glass transition point of at least 40.degree. C. formed by polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The cast coated paper is preferably controlled to have an air permeability of at most 300 sec/100 cc. The undercoating preferably contains a cationic resin, particularly preferably a copolymer of a polyalkylenepolyamine and dicyandiamide. The cast coated paper thus produced with an excellent ink absorptivity suitable for ink jet recording while retaining a high surface gloss.

  • Patent number: 5529255
Abstract: A brake device for a fishing reel which covers a threaded portion of a handle shaft between a handle and an adjusting member to prevent entry of foreign matters. A cylindrical portion is formed on an adjusting member, which is threadedly engaged with a handle shaft to rotationally adjust the drag brake force. The cylindrical portion extends from the adjusting member 4 and is received by an annular recessed portion formed in a handle which is mounted on the outer end portion of the handle shaft. The threaded portion of the handle shaft between the handle and adjusting member is surely covered with the cylindrical portion.

  • Patent number: 5432636
Abstract: In a rear-projection screen comprising a Fresnel lens and a light-diffusing member such as a lenticular lens sheet, a rise angle in a central region of the Fresnel lens is smaller than a rise angle in an intermediate region thereof (e.g., the former is not larger than 3.degree. and the latter is larger than 3.degree. ). The rise angles may preferably gradually increase from the central region of the Fresnel lens toward the intermediate region thereof. The central region of the Fresnel lens may preferably be a region extending within the range of from 1/4 to 1/3 from the middle point of a diagonal of the rear-projection screen. Such a Fresnel lens is effective for improving white uniformity in the intermediate region of the rear-projection screen and eliminating color corn in the central region thereof.
