  • Publication number: 20030202437
Abstract: An optical disc drive includes a light source, a lens, a focusing section, a spherical aberration corrector, a focus signal generator, a gain calculator and a processor. The focusing section forms a beam spot in a focusing state on the information storage layer of an optical disc by controlling the position of the lens. The spherical aberration corrector changes a spherical aberration with the beam spot in a focusing state according to a drive value of a driving signal supplied to the spherical aberration corrector. The focus signal generator generates a focus signal representing the focusing state of the beam spot. The gain calculator calculates a loop gain of a focus control system in response to the focus signal. The processor determines the drive value for the spherical aberration corrector by the loop gain.

  • Patent number: 6630850
Abstract: A delay circuit and a plurality of accepting circuits are comprised. The input signal supplied from exterior is delayed for a predetermined length of time by the delay circuit, and then it is distributed and output to the plurality of the receiver circuits. The delay time of the delay circuit is adjusted to optimize an accepting timing to an input signal by a clock signal in each of the accepting circuit. The each accepting circuit reliably accepts the delayed input signal respectively in synchronization with a clock signal. Therefore, it is unnecessary to respectively provide a delay circuit in the plurality of the accepting circuits. As a result, the plurality of accepting circuits can reliably accept input signals without enlarging a circuit scale. A plurality of delay circuits, a plurality of accepting circuits, and an operating circuit are comprised. The delay circuit receives a plurality of input signals, and outputs each of the delayed input signals respectively to the plurality of accepting circuits.

  • Publication number: 20030123344
Abstract: An optical disk apparatus includes an optical detector which has light receiving areas divided nearly concentrically with an optical beam and outputs a signal corresponding to the amount of the reflected light from an optical disk. A surface vicinity detecting section adds up signals from all the light-receiving areas of the optical detector and outputs a detection signal. The detection signal continuously varies so as to have one maximum level while a beam spot of the optical beam moves from the surface of the information medium to the information plane. An information plane detecting section judges that the focus or the beam spot of the optical beam comes closer to the information plane of the optical disk by detecting the gradient of the detection signal. An approach of a condensing lens and the optical disk is judged based on the judgment results, and thus a collision of the condensing lens and the optical disk can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6538493
Abstract: A first transistor is turned on during operation of a circuit block, to connect a substrate of the transistor to a first substrate voltage line. A second transistor is turned on during non-operation of the circuit block, to connect the substrate of the transistor to a second substrate voltage line. ON resistance of the second transistor is higher than that of the first transistor. A source-to-substrate voltage of the transistor being not in operation is set to be higher than that of the transistor being in operation. When a semiconductor integrated circuit switches from the operation state to the non-operation state, its substrate voltage changes gradually to a second substrate voltage. Charging/discharging currents of the substrate voltage can be dispersed so that it is possible to suppress current consumption in shifting from the operation state to the non-operation state and reduce a standby current in the non-operation state.

  • Patent number: 6441926
Abstract: A facsimile machine comprises a fax/modem section for communicating signals with a communication line in order to sending and receiving a fax and a computer unit for outputting AT commands such as a DCS reception command for requesting reception of a DCS (Digital Command Signal) and a TCF reception command for requesting reception of a TCF (Training Check Field) to the fax/modem section. The fax/modem section immediately changes into a TCF reception state for receiving a TCF if the fax/modem section received a DCS. In the TCF reception state, the fax/modem section receives the TCF sent via the communication line and temporarily stores the TCF in a TCF buffer, regardless of whether or not the fax/modem section has already received the TCF reception command from the computer unit. The fax/modem section sends the TCF in the TCF buffer to the computer unit when the fax/modem section received the TCF reception command from the computer unit.
