    Abstract: An automatic screw tightening method includes measuring a datum on time-varying screw tightening torque from a motor and a datum on time-varying motor rotational speed between a screw tightening start time point for a male thread with respect to a female threaded hole and a screw tightening completion time point; extracting a plurality of features from measurement-based data on the time-varying screw tightening torque and the time-varying motor rotational speed; and determining, with use of the features, whether a tightened state of the male thread is fit or unfit. In the determination, determining a unified numerical index from the features is included, and the numerical index is compared with a predetermined threshold in the determination of whether the tightened state is fit or unfit. The numerical index is a Taguchi (T) method-based overall evaluation measure from the features.

    Abstract: Quartz-crystal devices are disclosed, of which the CI value is reduced by adjusting the shortest distance between an edge of electrically conductive adhesive and an edge of the excitation electrode. The device has a quartz-crystal plate having long-edges and short-edges. Excitation electrodes are on first and second surfaces of the plate. Conductive pads are electrically connected to respective excitation electrodes and extend to the short-edge of the quartz-crystal plate. A package having a pair of external mounting terminals and respective connecting electrodes are situated on opposing sides of the mounting terminals for making electrical connections to the mounting terminals. An electrically conductive adhesive bonds the connecting terminals and respective conductive pads together, and the quartz-crystal plate onto the package. The shortest distance between an edge of the adhesive and an edge of the excitation electrode is 10%-15% the length of the quartz-crystal plate in the long-edge direction.

    Abstract: Quartz-crystal devices are disclosed, of which the CI value is reduced by adjusting the shortest distance between an edge of electrically conductive adhesive and an edge of the excitation electrode. The device has a quartz-crystal plate having long-edges and short-edges. Excitation electrodes are on first and second surfaces of the plate. Conductive pads are electrically connected to respective excitation electrodes and extend to the short-edge of the quartz-crystal plate. A package having a pair of external mounting terminals and respective connecting electrodes are situated on opposing sides of the mounting terminals for making electrical connections to the mounting terminals. An electrically conductive adhesive bonds the connecting terminals and respective conductive pads together, and the quartz-crystal plate onto the package. The shortest distance between an edge of the adhesive and an edge of the excitation electrode is 10%-15% the length of the quartz-crystal plate in the long-edge direction.

The hub, the rotary shaft and a part of the motor constitute a rotary body. A radial bearing having a length in the axial direction of the rotary shaft, for supporting the rotary body in a direction crossing the rotary shaft, and a thrust bearing for supporting the rotary body in the axial direction of the rotary shaft are provided. The thrust bearing has an outer diameter greater than the length of the radial bearing, and is arranged at a position which is inside of the motor and diametrically inward of the hub.

    Abstract: In magnetic disk structures having a high density, positioning errors (generally referred to as “flutter error”) occur due to a fluctuation of a magnetic disk. As a result, reading precision deteriorates. This is a significant problem in realizing a large capacity for a magnetic disk apparatus. This can be resolved by providing a magnetic apparatus such that a suspension which holds a slider having a magnetic head at one end and which is attached to a supporting arm at the other end is inclined so that an interval between the suspension and the magnetic disk is small on the inner rim side and is large on the outer rim side with this arrangement, the occurrence of the positioning error due to the fluctuation of a deformation of the magnetic disk is reduced, thereby enabling a high density recording of the magnetic disk.
