  • Patent number: 6782744
Abstract: A power transistor 1 is mounted on a metallic power supply terminal 40 within an intake pipe 20, individually and separately from an electronic circuit board 7 on which other electronic circuit element are mounted. This power supply terminal 40 acts as a terminal for electric power input and its one portion is exposed within the gas path of the intake pipe 20. The heat-generation of the power transistor 1 is effectively heat-generated by the metallic terminal 40 without giving a remarkable effect to the other circuit elements. With this, it is possible to reduce any heat effect to the other electronic circuit components due to the self heat-generation of the power transistor 1 without the additional number of parts and to effectuate the gas flow rate measuring apparatus of which measuring accuracy and reliability are high.

  • Patent number: 6698282
Abstract: The object of this invention is to provide a heated type air flow rate sensor for measuring an air flow rate using heat generating resistive element or resistor formed within a diaphragm of which periphery is fixed, in which diaphragm destruction due to the collusion of dust is adapted to be prevented. Tapers of two or more stages are formed at a diaphragm fixing flange, and the angle of the most inside taper is made smaller than the angle of the taper which is outside with respect to the most inside taper. When dust collides with the diaphragm and the kinetic energy is transformed into distortion energy, the diaphragm destruction is avoided by making small the slope of the load-displacement curve at the neighborhood of the diaphragm flange to make the generated load small.

  • Patent number: 6697743
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring an intake air flow of an internal combustion engine, wherein presence of a backflow is determined from a waveform of the electric signal of flow detecting unit. If a backflow is present, a kurtosis is calculated. A backflow ratio is calculated based on the relation obtained from the kurtosis and the backflow ratio. The mass of the flow obtained by converting electric signals from the flow detecting unit into flows are integrated or averaged. Then, the integrated value or the average value is compensated by the backflow ratio, and accumulate mass of the air flow is calculated.

  • Publication number: 20040011125
Abstract: The invention is intended to improve reliability of a thermal type air flow measuring instrument employing a molded part formed by integral molding together with a metal plate. A slot or opening allowing only a resin to pass through the same is formed in the metal plate in an area or thereabout subjected to higher stresses. A part of connector terminals, which is not required from the intrinsic object, is disposed in the vicinity of a area where the resin has a larger thickness and the temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the resin is locally increased. An injecting direction is set so as to prevent a weld line and a void from being generated in a combined way. In the molded part with the metal plate inserted therein, the occurrence of cracks and an increase of the fatigue crack growth rate can be suppressed and reliability can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6672146
Abstract: To correct properly the error of the thermal resistor type air flow measuring apparatus caused by the pulsation in the intake pipe in detecting the air flow of the internal combustion engine, a thermal resistor is placed in a passage inside the auxiliary air passage into which the reverse flow hardly flows directly and the error caused by the reverse flow is prevented. The existence of the reverse flow is judged by the ratio of the amplitude to the mean value using the maximum value, the minimum value and the mean value of the forward air flow waveform, and the error caused by the increase of the forward air flow is corrected.

  • Publication number: 20040002821
Abstract: In a thermal-type airflow meter that measures an intake airflow rate in an internal combustion engine of an automobile or the like, there has been a problem that pulsation errors caused by external fluctuations under the environment including a large pulsation and reverse flow in the intake valve are difficult to be reduced. In order to solve this problem, the invention provides a flowmeter comprising a detection element that outputs a non-linear signal corresponding to a flow rate, and a regulation means that regulates an output signal of the detection element for controlling. With this construction, the regulation means executes output regulation processing that regulates irregularities of the detection element in the output signal, and inequality linearization processing that regulates an average value of the output signal after the output regulation processing by means of regulating parameters.
