    Abstract: A flashlight includes a lamp base module disposed in a conductive barrel for seating a lamp thereon. The lamp base module includes a first insulator base member having first and second terminal receiving holes. First and second conductors are mounted in the terminal receiving holes, respectively. A hollow conductive seat is disposed above the first insulator base member, and has an upright wall portion establishing electrical contact with the barrel, and a flange portion that extends radially and inwardly from a bottom end of the upright wall portion and that contact electrically the first conductor. A second insulator base member has two coupling arms extending into two base coupling holes in the first insulator base member for coupling together the first and second insulator base members. The second insulator base member has two terminal extension holes to permit extension of two lamp terminals of a lamp for enabling electrical connection between the lamp terminals and the first and second conductors.

    Abstract: A flashlight includes a switch housing mounted in a barrel which is formed with a radial switch opening. The switch housing defines a button hole aligned with the switch opening in the barrel. The button hole has a large-diameter hole portion proximate to the switch opening, and a small-diameter hole portion distal to the switch opening. A button switching element is mounted in the switch housing, and has a button-confining sleeve and a button movably confined by the sleeve. The sleeve and the button extend through the small-diameter hole portion and into the large-diameter hole portion of the button hole. A resilient sealing member is disposed in a first annular clearance defined between the sleeve and the large-diameter hole portion of the button hole. The sealing member has an operating portion projecting into the switch opening of the barrel, a tubular portion enclosing the button and the sleeve, and a peripheral flange portion extending into the large-diameter hole portion of the button hole.

    Abstract: A variable-focusing head cap assembly is used in a flashlight having a barrel and a lamp mounted on one end of the barrel. The variable-focusing head cap assembly includes a tubular coupling sleeve, a parabolic reflector, a cap member, and a generally C-shaped resilient friction ring. The C-shaped resilient friction ring is received in an annular receiving groove that is formed in one of the inner peripheral surface of a cap body of the cap member and the outer peripheral surface of the coupling sleeve, and is in friction contact with the other one of the inner peripheral surface of a cap body of the cap member and the outer peripheral surface of the coupling sleeve so as to retain the cap body at a desired axial position along the coupling sleeve and obtain a desired focusing effect.

    Abstract: A switch device is mounted on the rear end of a conductive barrel body of a flashlight, and includes an actuating plunger movably disposed in a coupling member. An elastomeric cap member includes an annular insert portion interposed between a rear annular wall of the coupling member and the actuating plunger, and a cap portion. The cap portion has a depressible body and an annular connecting portion which extends forwardly in an axial direction and which is formed integrally with the insert portion to define an annular juncture therebetween. A block member extends radially and outwardly from the annular juncture to form a shoulder that faces rearwards, and has an outer peripheral surface distal to and radially spaced relative to the annular juncture. A socket portion extends forwardly from the depressible body so as to be plugged by a depressible plug end of the actuating plunger.

    Abstract: A waterproof switch device includes a tubular housing with a through hole and front and rear barriers, which are disposed at two sides of the through hole and which have insert recesses. A switch body is inserted into the tubular housing, and is provided with a spring-loaded push button protruding out of the through hole. A tubular elastomeric member is sleeved and engages tightly the tubular housing between the barriers. A protrusion is vaunted from the elastomeric member to mate and receive the push button. A resilient retaining sheath member has two opposing lateral ends and an inner abutment wall between the lateral ends. The inner abutment wall mates and clamps the elastomeric member. Two inserted portions extend from and are outboard to the lateral ends respectively, and are fitted retainingly in the insert recesses so as to retain tightly the elastomeric member on the tubular housing.

    Abstract: A multi-function lighting device includes a barrel, a lamp mounted on one end of the barrel, a tubular coupling member secured around one end of the barrel, a tubular sleeve member made of a light transmittable material and sleeved slidably on the coupling member, and a head cap secured to one end of the sleeve member and provided with a reflector therein. The sleeve member is shiftable with respect to the coupling member between a first position, wherein the lamp extends into the reflector so that light may be directed axially, and a second position, wherein the lamp is located in the sleeve member so that light can pass transversely through the sleeve member. The barrel houses a battery therein, and a switch assembly is mounted in the barrel and is connected electrically to the battery and the lamp. The switch assembly is operable so as to interconnect electrically and selectively the battery and the lamp and so as to cause the lamp to generate one of a constant light output and a blinking light output.

The switch mechanism has an end cap, a contact member, a plunger cylinder, a driving assembly, a depressing assembly, and a retainer. The end cap is threadedly engaged in the rear end of the cylindrical tube. The contact member has an annular portion disposed between the plunger cylinder and the retainer, and a number of leg portions which are connected electrically with the end cap. The plunger cylinder has a front threaded portion which engages a front threaded portion of the end cap. The driving assembly is connected with the depressing assembly and is received slidably in the plunger cylinder. The retainer is connected to the front threaded portion of the end cap. A spring member is retained in the retainer and has a front section which extends out of the retainer and a rear section which engages the contact member and the driving assembly.

The sleeve member is shiftable with respect to the coupling member between a first position, wherein the lamp extends into the reflector so that light may be directed axially, and a second position, wherein the lamp is located in the sleeve member so that light can pass transversely through the sleeve member.

A tail cap is mounted on one end of the barrel and has a spring for urging the battery towards the other end of the barrel. A lamp base retains a lamp adjacent the other end of the barrel. A head assembly is mounted on the other end of the barrel and has a planar lens and a parabolic reflector with an open tail end to receive the lamp. The lamp base includes a stationary receptacle mounted to the barrel, a first conductor mounted in the stationary receptacle for connecting one terminal of the lamp to a positive terminal of the battery, a second conductor mounted in the stationary receptacle for connecting another terminal of the lamp to a negative terminal of the battery via the barrel, and a movable receptacle mounted movably on the stationary receptacle to make or break connection between the first conductor and the battery.

The second end portion of the first conducting element contacts one of two output terminals of a power source. A third conducting element has a first end portion extending out of the body and contacting the other output terminal of the power source, and a second end portion spaced apart from the second end portion of the second conducting element. A button unit is movably disposed in the button retaining passage.

    Abstract: A writing instrument with a light assembly includes an elongated insulating switch bar, an insulating sleeve member, a pair of conductive tongues and a metallic clip assembly. The switch bar has two split members which extend radially and downwardly to define a receiving slot therebetween. The insulating sleeve member is sleeved around the split members and has two radial holding ribs which extend into the engaging slot of the switch bar and which is provided with a respective elongated engaging groove. Each of the conductive tongues has a section press-fitted into the engaging groove of the respective holding rib of the sleeve member to mount the former on the latter. The conductive tongues have two curved portions that cooperate to form a clamping ring between the split members. A conductive locking bolt extends axially into the receiving slot and engages the clamping ring and is fastened simultaneously to the switch bar to retain the sleeve member on the switch bar.

The coupling unit includes first and second coupling pieces. The first coupling piece is annular in shape and is interposed between and is in tight contact with the lamp holder and the barrel. The first coupling piece has a resilient end portion which is formed from a plurality of frontwardly extending and angularly spaced first peripheral flanges. The second coupling piece has an annular base with a diameter which expands gradually from a rear end to a front end of the annular base. The rear end of the annular base is formed with a plurality of angularly spaced and frontwardly extending second peripheral flanges that contact tightly the lamp holder.

The ink tube is movable between a first position, wherein the writing tip is disposed in the nib casing, and a second position, wherein the writing tip extends out of the nib casing. The lamp unit is disposed operably inside the barrel. The thrusting assembly includes a cap member connected to an open top end of the barrel and a push-button provided on the cap member. The push-button is operable to move the ink tube between the first and second positions and to turn on the lamp unit when the ink tube is in the second position and turn off the lamp unit when the ink tube is in the first position.
